I want to make a Stone Golem kind of character ... Im going to use the Earth Genasi as the race ... but im debating about the class .... i was thinking about monk or maybe druid? does anyone have recommendations .... i know druid has become elemental spell at level 10 ... and maybe monk four elements ... any other classes that would be worth looking into ?
The nature of a stone golem lends itself to a monk. The problem with a druid is that there would be too much other stuff that goes counter to a stone golem.
"The relevant equation is: Knowledge = power = energy = matter = mass; a good bookshop is just a genteel Black Hole that knows how to read." - Terry Pratchett
Barbarian and Monk have the Unarmored Defense features. Way of the Four Elements has been scrutinized time and time again as a monk that aspires to be a caster while keeping progression features, but ultimately falls a bit flat in being either.
If you look up the Unearthed Arcana for Mystics, have a look at those options as well. Try an Immortal Order (Unarmored Defense and other "natural" defenses) and pick out Disciplines which augment your form to match such as Iron Skin, Mastery of Wood and Earth, Adaptive Body, Brute Force, and Giant Growth. Mystics rely heavily on INT, so you may find you are a genius with high DEX and CON for the Unarmored Defense to be worthwhile. This build doesn't typically reflect "Stone Golem", though, since they aren't typically seen as overly nimble.
