I'm working on a quick homebrew slashing dagger - very simple weapon, replacing piercing with slashing damage. As best I know it isn't possible to change the base die of a weapon, so I added a damage modifier with a fixed value. To summarize, there are two modifiers: "replace damage type - slashing" and "damage - slashing (fixed value: 3)."
I can see the extra damage as a notation, but it isn't added when I use the dice roller. The base damage die for a dagger is 1d4 with a +2. So, as an example, if I click the dice roller and hit a 3, it adds 2 for a total of 5 and does NOT add the additional 3 slashing damage. Is there a way to fix this, or is this a current limitation of D&D Beyond? I don't think I've ever seen this before (I've made a lot of homebrew but never this specific modifier combination - or oddly anything this "simple").
As a complete non-sequitur, does anyone know how to override the range on a weapon? As part of another homebrew I want to limit the range of a spear to balance out other benefits.
