Hi, I was wondering what the rules are regarding using AI generated imagery in the homebrew racial avatars (large and portrait). I'm using a website to generate images based on prompts that I supply. The site (artflow.ai) generates the images licensed under CC BY 4.0. I've gone to some lengths to ensure that the images are still including the site generated text in the lower right hand corner indicating which site the image came from, in an attempt to keep the attribution present after resizing the images.
I realize it's probably easier for D&D Beyond if the rule is a simple "no, you can't use them even with attribution." However, my art skills are terrible, and the large racial avatar is marked as a requirement on the form for generating a homebrew race. Can that form requirement be lifted? Is it possible to remove the attached images? I've created a transparent 1 pixel by 1 pixel image for now, using it for both avatars, however the space where the generated image originally had been is still present on the race description page and it's in a div that's floated right and 330px wide. Additionally, the tool-tip for racial avatars doesn't appear to be working on the form for the race's basic information page - mousing over them does nothing - I've tested this in Firefox and Vivaldi browsers. My guess is they're included in a different form element that is preventing the mouseover event from firing.
My goal is to release the homebrew race to be publicly viewable. What should I do? I obviously feel the images I've generated are adding flavor to the race's description or I wouldn't have included them in the first place, so I would be losing that if the answer is "use the 1x1 image instead". The racial description page is currently all jacked up because it's adding 330 pixels of width for an image that's 1x1px.
You don't need to attach an image, there are several things (such as the avatar and snippet sections) that can be left blank, despite the Asterix.
It doesn’t apply to magic items (or spells) since there is no snippet field for those, but if you leave the snippet field blank the. No text will appear on the character sheets. Descriptions display everywhere else, only the contents of the snippet fields display on character sheets for subclasses, races, or feats.
When you publish your homebrews, all attached images are automatically hidden from everyone except for you and people in DDB campaigns with you. You can safely publish your homebrews regardless of the images attached.

I am now lawyer, but I think if you are not publishing the homebrew it does not matter as it's for personal use.
Unfortunately I'm not seeing a way to remove the images once they've been added in the editor.
I don't believe that you can once you have uploaded an image.
Well that's disconcerting.
