I am having an issue with my race showing up in the character creator as well as having the sub-races being grouped with the parent race. Now I don't have a dnd beyond subscription so I cant share links. I just want to make something to make a home-brew campaign easier to work with.
but I made a race called "hengeyokai" then I clicked on "will have subraces" as I wanted to have two subraces. I then made two subraces called "tanuki" and "Nekomata" by clicking on "add subrace" the two subraces show up as races in the character creator but the parent race does not. The parent race is suppose to add a dex increase regardless of which subrace you chose. The sub races with also have score increases but until I get this working properly I want to figure out why the "Hengeyokai" race isn't working.
In the example images you can see that the race clearly has its sub-races and everything looks good. the character creator however doesn't have that race.
You can nest them under other races but not under homebrew ones.
How strange. Well thank you. Seems the other issues I had also just worked. For a while the Parent race wasn't giving hits "children" it's traits. Turns out I just had the wrong variables chosen.
I have nothing to add to the whole use of DDB thing, but I did want to say "hey, cool, I remember when they introduced the hengeyokai in Oriental Adventures! Cool to seem them coming back for someone."

It is not possible to have homebrewed subraces appear nested under a homebrewed parent race. Please see the Homebrewed Subclasses & Species FAQ #5 for more information: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/131411-a-homebrewers-how-to-faq).
