How can I home-brew a toolkit so that shows as a Tool Proficiency on my character sheets?
Example: Character is a Barber in the medieval sense of the profession, being a person who cuts and styles hair, shaves and styles beards, and removes body hair while also being able to perform minor medical (minor surgery, sew wounds, apply heat cups, let blood, minor chiropractic, etc ) and dental work (mostly tooth extractions).
Typical tools might be: Brush, comb, clippers (hair and nail), heat cups, gauze, picks, steel razor, obsidian scalpel, shears, hair stays, sharpening stone (fine), strop (honing, leather), suture, bamboo tweezers, massage oil, numbing oil, and others,—all packed inside foldable leather, like a Lock Pick Set or Butchers Kit.
I can create the kit as custom equipment, yet I can't make the kit show as a proficiency; as with thief tools, herbalism kit, weaver's tools, or a specific musical instrument. Believe me, you want your Barber to be proficient when using a steel razor or obsidian scalpel.
You cannot. What you can do however, is to enter it directly on your character sheet by adding a custom tool. It works the same way as custom languages, so just follow the same steps as are in this video:
Thank for cluing me in. To do what I wanted I first needed to create a Custom Skill (ie: Barber, in the medieval sense), create a Custom Tool (ie: Barber Set). Being skilled as a Barber allows the character to temporarily increase a client's charisma by 1, and a barber's medical knowledge allows a +1 to surgery checks (closing wounds, extracting teeth, removing arrows and bullets without causing more damage, etcetera).

Any ideas?
