i'm trying to add a spell list and spell slots to a homebrew barbarian subclass, but i just can't get a spell menu no matter what i do. my assumption was that, on basic information, i checked off "can cast spells" as "yes," did prepare type as "half-level", set the modifier, added "bard" to "additional spell list", and set knows all spells to "no," and i'd get a spell menu like you do for any half-caster or third-caster class, with slots and learnable spells to manage. in this case, the ability to learn bard spells at appropriate levels. but again; no dice. no spell menu, no place for spells at all, not even if i add other spells in the "additional specific spells" slot.
again, i'm probably missing something really simple, but i couldn't find a thread on this problem no matter how hard i looked. maybe i just can't get spell slots on a non-caster class? i can accept that if so, but the presence of a "spell prepare type" selection at all, and the "half-level" and "full level" options implied otherwise to me.
could someone help me out?
NOTE: i have also attempted to add spells through an additional feature outside of basic information. this has not worked either. adding specific spells, adding "additional spell lists" - nothing
