See title. I'm looking for advice/criticism on whether or not this would be balanced (or if the name is fitting for it), as I wanted to use it as an alternative to the traditional Multiattack option for a very swift and skilled NPC. Feel free to ask questions if it will help form an opinion. Edit: Optional question, how much would this raise the NPC's Challenge Rating by?
Exploding Multiattack. The monster can make a predetermined number of melee attacks. If the monster rolls a 1 or 2 on one of its attack rolls, the monster can roll the die again to make another attack, rolling with disadvantage if the previous attack hit.
That’s not really “exploding dice“ it’s just revolting ones and twos. It’s essentially like giving them a great weapon fighting style, but letting it work for any weapon. For something like that, I would imagine it would raise the often to CR by one level, how that would affect the total CR would depend on its defensive CR, you would have to calculate that.
