I'm trying to add a tooltip for Short Rest in a homebrew race trait. I've tried every combination I can think of, using the <bracket>rule] tag [/rule<bracket> format (I have to type it that way in order to post here because typing [ xxx ] results in a [Tooltip Not Found] message).

Is there a list of rule tags someplace? Or is there a way to copy the link to the rule in the Player's Handbook?

That is the full comprehensive list of all tooltips. If you don’t see something listed as an available tooltip, that means it is not available to tooltip.

Going to "necro this post" and say that I found the last response to be incredibly rude and unhelpful. The person asked for how to do a short rest, which is technically a rule (since it doesn't fit any other category). The screenshot provided, which is this link here How to add tooltips, doesn't include the link to the actual forum post nor does the suggested forum post  give an actual COMPREHENSIVE LIST of ALL TOOLTIPS that CAN BE LINKED, as the post above this one eludes to doing. All it gives are EXAMPLES for each of the words/types provided (note the multiple instances of "e.g.",  aka "example given"). The only word/type that gets a, maybe, comprehensive list is rule. But even then, it doesn't give a real example of how to link, say, an ability score. All it shows is that you can link the words "ability scores" or "background", but not the individual "ability scores" or "backgrounds" within.

So I'm not sure why this post is still out here without a real answer, but the above answer is not an answer nor is it helpful. If someone feels like actually being helpful, that would be great. Something as crucial to D&D 5E's play as "short rest" and "long rest" should be able to be linked so players can hover and be reminded of what it means.

Hell, if someone would be so kind as to find a link that is an actual list of full examples for what belongs to what type/word/category and post it here, that would be most appreciated.

I did give a real answer. Since “short rest” is not listed as a [_rule] tooltip in the thread you linked (the same thread I had already directed them to), that means it cannot be tooltipped. And you cannot tooltip individual backgrounds either. That thread that you linked (that I had directed the OP to) is the comprehensive list of all available options.
