Hello fellow DnD Homebrewers. Yesterday I was trying to make some UA feats for Skills, like the feat Arcanist, for example. These feats make you gain proficiency in the chosen skill, but if you already have it, you gain expertise in it.
For example, if I do not have proficiency in Arcana and choose Arcanist, I gain proficiency, but if i already had proficiency in Arcana and choose Arcanist, I gain expertise in it.
I'm kinda struggling to make this work, so any help is welcome!
You cannot. You would have to make two versions of the feat, one that grants proficiency and the other that grants expertise and each player will simply have to select the correct version for their character.
