I'm pretty new to using the homebrew feature on D&D Beyond, so I'm wondering if any one has figured out how to do what I'm trying to do. I'm making a subclass of Blood Hunter based on the Prototype games, and at the risk of oversimplifying, one of the options I wanted to give them is the ability to, as a bonus action, change the damage type of their unarmed attacks to either bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing.
I've made a rough version that does allow players to do this, but they have to go into the Character Builder to make the selection. Does anyone know how I can make this possible directly through the Character Sheet?
This is the methodology I've used so far:
Class Feature -> Class Feature Options -> Action: Three total, one for each damage type (bludgeoning, piercing, slashing), listed as an Attack.
This both works and does not work - when going through the Character Builder, I can select the appropriate damage type and only the selected attack appears on the character sheet as an action. But I cannot make the selection anywhere on the Character Sheet, which is where I would like the selection to be made.
Class Feature -> Actions: Also three, one for each damage type, listed as a Bonus Action, which enables one of the above attacks.
This appears to work as intended. Each bonus action appears on the character sheet as a possible bonus action. I might be able to narrow this down to a single "pick a damage type" bonus action, but as stated before, I'm still figuring a lot of this out.
I can post screenshots if necessary - only holding off at the moment because I'm not sure which would be helpful and which wouldn't be.
Thank you for any and all help I can get on this matter!
There is not a way to have a weapon or attack with a variable damage type in the tools right now.
I think you best bet is to do it as follows: Add a bonus action for changing the damage type. Add two additional attack actions to represent unarmed piercing and slashing attacks.
