I'm currently creating a homebrew race, Aachim, inspired by my favourite fantasy series by Ian Irvine.
I was trying to figure out how to give a player a choice of a Tool as a starting equipment for the race (rather than a background). This race is exceptional at artisanry so the trait will give two artisan tool proficiencies, with one of the choices at Expertise. I was also wanting to grant that artisan tool (or choice) as a starting item.
No, the system is not programmed to apply Equipment from Races since nothing official does that. You can have a Race grant the proficiency, but not the equipment itself. If would have to be plain txt and the player would have to add the equipment manually.

Is there a way to do this?
