I am in the process of making a series of artifacts for my campaign called Totems. I want each totem to provide a cantrip that the bearer can cast at will. For the most part, this has gone pretty smoothly, but for those that require an attack roll (i.e. Shocking Grasp) there is no way, that I can tell, to add an ability score modifier to the attack. There are spots for charges and save DC's, but nothing for attack bonuses. When I view the granted spell in my character sheet, I see that the attack roll for the spell provides the proficiency bonus, but even then there doesn't seem to be any way to customize the attack roll to include an ability score modifier. Am I missing something, or do I have to make a custom attack for this? If so, is there a way to make the damage automatically scale with character level the way cantrips do? Thanks in advance y'all, I appreciate the help!
All of the official Magic items that have spells attached requiring attack rolls usually require Attunement by a spellcaster. Currently DDB only has things programmed to make stuff like the official content. And there is also currently no way to attach Actions to Magic Items either.
If I we’re trying to do what you are, I would also make a corresponding feat to go with each item. Like a “Totem Barer [Totem]” feat. Anything you can’t attach to the item you should be able to do with a feat. They can attach the feats directly to their character sheet, so just have them attach the feat there whenever they are attuned to the Totem.
The other option, wait until DDB finishes their upgrades to the homebrewer and do it then, but there is no ETA for that.

I am attempting to do a similar thing, however I’m running into the same issue.
I’ve created a feat that adds a cantrip, however the ability modifier does not get included in the attack bonus. I couldn’t see any option that would allow me to add it either
*Edit: Never mind, I figured it out. After making a change to the feat I have to wait for a few minutes for it to activate in the character sheet

Thank you for the input! I hadn't considered requiring a feat. That's super helpful!
