First time posting to the forum and hoping for some help. I'm creating a witcher subclass with each school (i.e. bear, cat, wolf etc.) I've been doing well definitely OP at this point but one thing happened and I cannot figure out how to fix it.
I'm trying to make the option for one school to have the character be able to choose dex instead of strength for weapon attacks like a monk. The idea is that this class when using a long sword can use dex instead of strength. I cannot figure out how to make it an modifier in the class creation or if I'm totally off base about how it works.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thank you

Moved from Bugs & Support to Homebrew & Houserules
Class features are not all expanded into homebrew modifiers. Only the ones that subclasses need. As Martial Arts is a main class feature, and not a subclass one, I don't think it has a homebrew modifier.

The easiest thing would probably take a Longsword and add the Finesse property to the weapon. You could write the subclass any way you want to, but actually making the system work the way you want it to isn’t always possible.
I just made a subclass feature with title, snippet, and description explaining what the sub can do. Since you really only need the rule on the sheet for reference under class features, this gets the job done. Player has to remember their bonuses change since the sheet doesn't display it by the weapon.
If you decide you want stats creating it as an action works. I use the description "To use a Longsword with the Finesse property, use these stats with your regular Attack action. Used in this way the weapon has the properties Two-Handed, Martial, and Finesse.". Note that in my build the weapon is only finesse when used two-handed.

You will probably have to use custom actions.
