I am trying to homebrew a dark version of the drift globe cause my DM gave me a dark version of the drift globe that Replaces Light with Chill Touch, and Daylaight with Darkness. I tried to simply homebrew it by using Drift Globe as a base item, and just changing the spell names. But when I did that it would somehow still keep the spell light as the cantrip spell, while still changing daylight to darkness. Not sure what else I need to change on the item in order to have it grant chill touch as the cantrip, and darkness as the 1/day spell. 

You have to actually change the spells attached to it, not just the names in the description. After you save those specific changes, re-save the whole item again. Then wait about 20 minutes.
