Perhaps, the cone of silence...
A clear glass like a cone appear above the speaker and the intended recipient. The intention is to prevent unintended listeners from hearing the conversation. The people inside either cone can clearly communicate with people outside of the cone. However, individuals inside one cone cannot hear anything from the individuals within a different cone. It is always a comfortable temperature inside the cone.
At higher levels subtitles appear but do not disappear and will start to overlap each other .
