I am creating magical hand wraps for a monk in a completely OP campaign I'm running. Since we can't modify the base states of the base weapon (ie make a quarter staff deal 2d6 instead of 1d6) I want to use the base weapon of a maul but make it a simple weapon so it works for the monk.
Or if there is another way to make a weapon a monk weapon I'm open to suggestions
I've not found a way to change a martial to a simple or vice versa. I think giving a maul the finesse property and ignoring the heavy property should do what you need it to do.

Do, or do not, There is no try
