The homebrew spell upcast damage modifier appears to be broken.
I am using the homebrew spell feature to put Healing Word with Disciple of Life into the system. Setting healing to 1d4 + primary modifier + 3 worked fine. Setting the spell to scale by 1d4+1 per spell level did not. The 1d4 adds, but the additional modifier does not. It doesn’t appear to be using one modifier over the other, switching the modifier to +4 had no effect, it is completely disregarding the scaling modifier.
I bring this up not because my use case didn’t work, but the platforms addition itself appears to be broken for anyone else trying to make this type of calculation.
edit: To be clear, that’s “at higher levels, fixed value” that I can’t get to work.
Why would there be a field that doesn’t work, and why would it not be made to work? Has no one ever made a spell that adds 1d4+1 damage per spell level?
The full answers to those questions are long and involved. The short answer is, if there isn’t a single official spell that works that way, then the creation software hasn’t been designed to do it either.
Smells like a bug to me. A field in the spell homebrew is non-functional. I appreciate your explanation of the reason, though. Thanks. I wish they would hide the field since it doesn’t work.
What you have to realize is the “the homebrewer” isn’t really a homebrewer at all. It’s the same official software the Devs use, they just stuck some things behind admin privileges so we couldn’t break the website and opened the doors for us.

That’s because it doesn’t work. It isn’t a bug, you’re trying to make it do something it doesn’t do.
