I am trying to make a shield that provides +4 AC instead of the normal 2. I have added the modifier Bonus - Armor Class and a fixed value of 4 but whenever I have a character equip it, it still only adds 2 to their armor class. What am I doing wrong?
Normally, you just have to go to modifier -> bonus -> Armor Class -> fexed value (2)
Tho you should only make a fixed value of 2 if you want a shield giving a total of +4 to AC, because the bonus will be in addition to the base AC bonus of the shield. as for what you are doing wrong, I don't know, it should work, make sure you did save correctly, and you equipped the correct shield the testing on your char.
Also, you know, for a +4 AC shield, you don't need to homebrew, just use the base item that exists, the +2 shield, and it will work just fine.

Why not just use the shield, +2 like EleKTriiK suggested? That’s already a magic shield with an additional +2 bonus that makes it a total of +4 to AC.
