I just needed somewhere to complain and vent a bit.
I keep seeing people bitterly complaining about the things they DON'T get for free from DnDBeyond. It bothers me because of all the wonderful tools that have been made available here. Yet they still complain about seemingly everything. I realize not everyone is expecting the same things from a site such as this, but to lose their shit over having to pay money to support their hobby gets me all riled up. You like this game (or want to try it) otherwise you would have never come here, so why not show your support. The free content is still plenty useful if you are just getting into the game, heck it wouldn't be too hard to run a decent length campaign with JUST the free content. There have been consistent improvements to the site, giving us more and more options for customizing our games.
Spells, Monsters, Feats, Backgrounds, Items, so many features that can be homebrewed to give your campaign so much flexibility in a convenient format. Sub-classes, and Races next up for implementation sounds awesome. Still I see vehement arguments that we deserve homebrew base-classes nownownow (exaggeration I know). Man there is SO MUCH available yet always its not enough for some. Is this site perfect? No, but it is damn good at what it is meant for. Although I have barely used the shared content from homebrew I LOVE the fact that users can share their creations with each other. Just makes things that much better.

"I have found the answer to the meaning of life. You ask me what the answer is? You already know what the answer to life is. You fear it more than the strike of a viper, the ravages of disease, the ire of a lover. The answer is always death. But death is a gentle mistress with a sweet embrace, and you owe her a debt of restitution. Life is not a gift, it is a loan."
One thing I think I have been doing better with lately is just not responding in threads when all I am going to say is mean/rude comments in response to people being unreasonable or just generally rude. This is a major step for me at times, and each time I don't sully this site with mean comments I feel happier. My new year has been good in this respect so far.

Man it is so hard to get people back into it after that many cancellations in a row. Everyone tends to just kinda... wander off.

yeah that never help, What I do is I write out my angry response , then I walk away before hitting post once I calm down I go back and edit it. I think the real issue would have been if you didn't feel sorry about it
There have been a number of times I have an entire response written out and just look at it and close the tab. Some people just seem determined to get the worst out of people.

what gets me is, right now in here Chicago there is a snow storm, has been since last night, roads suck and most places are not derivable. I get that. But knowing that the other players of my group wait till 2 hours before we start ( two hours i take to get everything set up and make last minute encounters) to tell me know they weren't coming. They had all day to let me know they weren't coming

Because people expect everything handed to them and are never happy. They want this to work the way they want it to weather or not it's possible

Yeah, I just lashed out at someone who posted a rude response and I already feel about about it. I'm gonna go edit it.
