Luriel blushes. “She’s my third cousin. That was amazing!”

Lindir grins "Thanks. They say only Lord Elrond, Thranduil, or my cousin Legolas could beat me in a fight. It's my specialty."

“Wow. I can cast a few spells, but I’m not great at it. I’m from Valinor over the sea. What kingdom are you from?”

He looks impressed "Valinor is one of the few places I haven't been to. I'm from everywhere, essentially. I wander a lot. But the Woodland Realm is about the closest thing I have to a home."

“Wow. Okay. I really like Middle-earth so far. So by the Woodland Realm you mean like the Greenwood? Or Lothlorien?”

Lindir shakes his head "It's not the Greenwood anymore, it's the Mirkwood now. Ever since the Necromancer came."

Megilhir straps on his sword "I'm going to track these orcs, unless you know where they came from." 

Lindir shrugs "They came out of Mirkwood."

Megilhir nods "Right. Keep an eye on the tavern until I'm back." He heads off. 

Luriel goes inside and sits at the bar. “So you must have fought a lot of orcs these past few years since the Necromancer showed up,” she says to Lindir.

Lindir sits down next to her. He holds up a long string, with dozens of knots tied in it. "See this string? Each of those knots are 100 orcs."

Luriel’s jaw drops. “Holy… You’re as good as Feanor!”

Lindir smiles "Not that good. He'd have killed a lot more if he hadn't been killed by the Balrogs. He's my great great many greats grandfather or something, actually."

Luriel nods. “Finarfin is mine. So what’s the area around here like?”

"To the east there's Mirkwood, to the west the Misty Mountains... Hey there's actually a massive tree near here, when you climb to the top you can see everything around here, even as far as the Lonely Mountain on a good day. Wanna go?"

“Sure! That sounds great.”

Lindir takes Luriel outside to the woods behind the tavern. He points to a gigantic pine that is nearly 80 feet wide “That one. You good at climbing?”

“I am! I’ll race you.”

Lindir grins “One, two, three, go!”

*He’ll let her win, even tho he could probably beat her cause he’s got massive acrobatics bonus.*

Luriel grins happily. “That was great! You’re really good.”

Lindir grins back. “Thanks. Your even better. Hey look, you can just see the Lonely Mountain!”

From the top of the enormous tree, Lindir and Luriel can just spot the tip of the mountain in the distance.

Luriel’s eyes widen. “Oh wow! Isn’t that where the dragon Smaug lives?”
