"I'm sure hawk would be unamused, wouldn't you, hawk?" Friedrin scratches the hawk behind the head. "I assume, by your armour, you are a soldier? Why, we could exchange a tale or two, perchance? I'm afraid I can't buy you a drink though."
"I'm sure hawk would be unamused, wouldn't you, hawk?" Friedrin scratches the hawk behind the head. "I assume, by your armour, you are a soldier? Why, we could exchange a tale or two, perchance? I'm afraid I can't buy you a drink though."
"I have more than enough for the both of us, my friend." He orders some drinks and a piece of Lembas from Megilhir. "Tell me about thyself, I would like to know of thou friendship with thy companion." He unclips his sword from his belt, Friedrin can see that it is fine mithril, a message inscribed in Quenya on the curved longsword.
Yavansuru gets up. He takes off his armor and places it on the arm of one of the chairs. "I would love to hear your story Friedrin, but it has been a long journey to this tavern. I shall be off to sleep, where endless scenarios could Occur, what shall the Illuvatar bring my mind tonight?" He walks off to a room.
Friedrin nods. "I'll keep it short, then. I was once a soldier of Gondor, the great kingdom of man. My mother gave me a name of the Numenorian people, despite my blood having none of the great line of kings within it. I grew up and managed to get a post as a scout in Gondor's army, though the post was hard-earned. It took me many years and much scars to get where I did." Friedrin shows Yavansuru her hand, which is missing half a finger. "But once I got there, after five years of serving in Osgilaith, the old Steward of Gondor holding the throne of the King fell ill and perished. A new steward, Ecthelion II, took over power and immediately decreed that all books in Osgilaith relating to the lines of the Kings be burned, as the Steward was arrogant and rash. I stole a number of the books and hid them, but I was severely punished for doing so. I was exiled from the lands of my mothers and forefathers and left for dead in the Dead Marshes. I was captured by a lone brigand of orcs, who overpowered me and tortured me for over a month." Friedrin points to a series of metal bolts above her eye, as well as many burn scars. "I was rescued by an elf, who gifted me Hawk as a guide and taught me how to speak with animals. However, the orcs changed me, and now I can... sense the presence of those opposed to me. Like how your cousin's blades glow blue when goblinkin are near, I can sense the presence of creatures. After being rescued, Hawk led me on a long journey through the Greenwood, that which is now Mirkwood, and brought me here. And that is my tale so far."
*and for clarification, if Friedrin can read Quenya, then the sword says: Although dying is easy and living is harder, remember that this is the only place you can get a decent meal. On the other side it reads: Always have faith, and if you run out of that, always have snacks. Which is you know, potato patoto.*
Friedrin shrugs. "Why did Erebor fall to the dragon and greed, if all it ever did was spread joy? That is a question you must reserve for those who care not for the welfare of others."

Vestri thinks for a second
"I don't know how great Erebor was, but I can tell you my home mansions have stayed standing for nearly all time."

"And now we have a knight of Goldolin here. Gondolin!"
V: "One of the old elven dominion? If it was so great, why did it fall?"
M: "Because Morgoth, a foe so great that even Sauron was merely a servant of him, sent dragons, balrogs, and many great creations of destruction to destroy it. We fought long and hard, but against an army so great we could never hope to triumph. It took only one balrog to drive the dwarves from Moria, but we stood against many."
