 "Where did you get a flying snake thingy???" He yells up to them

"I mean, kinda." Avery says, "Nope, i found this fair and octogon." He says, light mist filling the area around him again

 "Oh No you don't!" Shouts Egrien.. Suddenly, the mists around Avery stop as Egrien's rod starts glowing and he starts chanting something in Celestial (He's Casting counterspell).

As the mists stop, the Couatl settles around Egrien's shoulders, and starts to glare at Avery.

Did you honestly think an Aasimar warlock would be without a companion? And did you truly think I didn't know your intentions from the very beginning? I chose to give you a chance, and you failed. A powerful, holy voice says inside Avery's mind, nearly deafening out his thoughts.

 Egrien also waves his hand over the staff. Suddenly, it becomes nothing more than an ordinary quarterstaff.

"Did you think that we weren't prepared for the likes of you? You are not the first magic-wielding thief we've had to deal with." Egrien says while still flying in the air above Avery.

 "Bah, thats annoying. Wait this thing was magical?"

 "Not in the slightest" Egrien says with a laugh. "Haven't you heard of illusion magic?"

 "Theres more than one magic?" Avery asks, "And was the gem stuff fake?"

A simple cantrip is all it takes to fool most thieves, although I was a little surprised to find a magic-wielding thief taken by such a simple ruse." Egrien laughs at that. "Nevertheless, the staff is mine, and I would like it back."

 "Dang it. Should i assume the same about his swords?" Avery points to Reirlin. "Man thats annoying. I'm keeping the staff though, cause if my forefathers taught me anything its that a pirate never gives up his loot."
