Avery sits at the bar, waiting for the group to sit aswell. He looks at the origina; owner of the staff, "I-i'm sorry i stole from you."
Don't apologize. It'll show them that they can boss you around.
But i am sorry..... plus they're scary
You don't have to be afraid of them. And even if you are, always keep your fear hidden. Displaying it shows weakness.
Ok. I'll be less apologetic
Good. You shouldn't feel bad about taking something from those who serve the gods.
Whats wrong with the gods? If you're lucky they allow safe voyage on sea trips
Why shouldn't they always allow it? Why do you have to appeal to them simply to live?
Thats just how it is i guess. My patron told me about different ocean gods when i was young. How to avoid their wrath
Me and my people fight against a threat that would destroy the multiverse. And what do the gods do? They kill the protectors of their own worlds.
Aren't they the protectors of their world tho?
Not against the demons, whom they refuse to fight.
Demons?
Creatures that want to destroy everything and everyone. Think of the gods as tyrants. They will do anything to stay in power.
Isn't it bad to let the demons in power then?
Yes, it is. My people have devoted our lives to protecting the multiverse from them, while the gods do nothing.
Hm..... interesting
If you want, I can show you what we protect the world against.

Avery hears a now-familiar voice in his mind: that of Egrien's couatl. If Avery looks for it, he'll see its head poking out of Egrien's robes, neck wrapped around his, and appearing to be asleep. Tell me of your patron please. I have not met anyone as adamant as you that he keep so minor an item. Obviously he, or she, has immense influence over your decisions, almost the same influence that deities have among their clerics and priests.

I..... i don't know. I was going to drink with those guys and i don't want to run from them again..... will it be quick?
It doesn't have to be now. But don't trust them. They've clearly been trapped under the sway of their deity, or are merciless killers themselves.

Kinsley hears a strange voice in his head. Hello young troublemaker. The voice is surprisingly powerful, echoing in Kinsley's mind. I watched your previous interaction with Egrien and Reirlin, the Aasimar brothers, and knew you were up to no good. Be careful who you try things with; you may find yourself some very powerful enemies.

"Really? Yesssss! Finally, something interesting!" Looks around for the Aasimar brothers
Soldaer turns to Avery suddenly, his face looking as though he had a sudden inspiration. "I just remembered something: I think I have a bottle or two of some really good Feywine from my homeland in a chest in my room. Rather than sitting here, and hoping the Barkeep has some, what do you say we head upstairs and have a drink or two from my own private stock?"

Kinsley sees them sitting at a table near the bar. Kinsley immediately notices an unusual creature on Egrien: some sort of winged serpent is halfway out of his robes, with the rest of it's body draped around his neck and shoulders like some sort of python.

"Hey, hey, hey hey, I've been told someone is gonna mess with me if I mess with you. What's that? A Couatl or whatever?" Prepares various spices

Avery shrugs, "Sure, sounds good"
*Sus*
*Not really in this case. Soldaer is chaotic good alignment, so he's not gonna do anything... inappropriate, lol.*
Soldaer leads Avery upstairs and stops at the wall partway between two doors. "After you," he says, grasping an invisible doorknob and opening the wall-door-thing to reveal his room.

Kinsley pops in dressed like a cowboy and wielding a gun.
"Oh... Oh no, it got all quiet again... Oh god..."
