"Thanks. My parents did as well." His facial expression flickers for a second before saying, "Just some coffee please."
"You sure? We just did a couple of steak and ale pies - they're on the house of you want one!" Katarina pauses as they go through the door, "So, what brings someone like you to this neck of the woods?"
"A coffee is just fine with me. As for what brings me here....I am a wanderer. A ranger to be more accurate. I protect those who cant protect themselves."

"Well, you seem like the kinda guy we'd want to stick around! What kind of coffee? Espresso, latte, americano, mocha... Whatever you'd like."

He lets out a dark chuckle. "Not really. The forces of evil never rest so nor do I." He then smiles a bit. "Sorry didn't mean to sound morbid."
Katarina shrugs, "Not too morbid, don't worry. This area gets very little trouble. I think the prospect of a mob of angry fishermen with harpoons puts evil off. So you may be forced in holiday!"

"Lovely."
Katarina hands him his coffee and a jar holding a few sugar cubes. "Actually... You see the kid over there? The one my husband is talking to? He lost his parents, been on the streets a couple of weeks. We'd kinda appreciate your help finding the parents, given your usual profession."

Theren drops 2 cubes into the coffee and nods. "I could help." he says and then takes a sip. "This is wonderful. Thank you."
"I think his house is. . .somewhere. . .over there. (He points vaguely out the window) One of those houses behind those ones. Or maybe. . .behind those ones too. But it's over there, and he has---a welcome mat and he just cut the grass on his yard, and he has a tiny white dog that barks a lot and has funny eyebrows. He likes to sit on the porch, too, with his dog. And the house is gray."

"mmmmm. Will you be able to point it out?"
"I think so." Bread curls up on his lap, looking incredibly sleepy and adorable.

"You want to do that now? Your parents must be terribly worried. Have you had anything to eat yet?"

He nods. "I wanna find them and show them that I found Bread. And Mister Yohan gave me a muffin. And something else too. I was really hungry." He pets Bread lovingly. "I love you, buddy," he says quietly, leaning over the fluffy kitten.

The kenku child thinks for a moment. "Mama would be offended if you called her that. I think you might have sweared. Sort of."
Yohan grins, secretly pleased he kinda learnt a kenku swear word. Then he remembers how he should act around children and frowns. "Don't repeat that, it was very rude of me." He kinda wags a finger at the kid. "What was your name again?"

He fidgets with his hands, a little awkwardly since he's holding a cat. "Um. (He goes through a long series of bird calls). That's my name."
It seems to suddenly start raining outside. A few minutes later, the front door of the inn opens to reveal a short, cloaked figure with red horns poking up out of the hood, his entrance accentuated by a strike of thunder in the distance directly behind him. The figure starts to walk in, then pauses and turns to look at something to his right that you can't quite see from here. He nods, then fully enters. Now that the imminent threat of rain is no longer a problem, he pulls down his hood at the same time as a thunderclap outside, revealing... A six year old tiefling with crimson red skin and a short, thick tail. Cobalt-blue hair standing straight on his head contrasts sharply with his short, pointy horns. He seems to be wearing a damp black cloak over leather armor, both of which seem designed for a halfling and are stained with dried blood moistened by the rain. He looks around the inn for an available seat and takes a booth over by the corner. Heroforge - https://www.heroforge.com/load_config=501667069/
