She moves away from Tim a little bit. "Okay... why? I... do I scare you?"
He shakes his head vigorously, putting his hands up “N-no, I just… don’t want to hurt you…” He looks down to his knees.
"Okay. I'll just stay over here." She responds, still watching from the shadows with curiosity- Tim can't even make out any sort of silhouette. She almost seems to be part of the surrounding night.
“T-thank you… I just… I think I’m supposed to hurt people and I don’t want to.” He looks at the sky, the starts above glistening with brightness beyond his understanding “Omori is a pretty name.”
She is silent for a second. "Me too, I think- or at least, I was meant to." She responds, not having the cheery tone she spoke in before. "Thank you. Tim is a nice name too."
He sighs, looking to the stars, his eyes changing back to normal “You were too? At least I’m not alone I guess… I just… I’m… I’m just so afraid of everything… I don’t know what to do.”
"Honestly? Me either. I'm just... trying my best, because really, that's the best anyone can do."
He takes a deep breath “You’re right, I just don’t know what to do, and that makes me not want to be near anyone anymore.”
“Sounds like a good man who will enjoy every moment of life with you.” He smiles “I’m happy for you Lilac.”
She takes the glass, draining it slowly while looking them up and down “If you say so.” She stands up, looking down to them “How about something less… cursed?”
"100 years, huh? It really is good. My culture has a long history of corrupt leaders. One of them turned my people to cannibalism so they could eat our food. I'm sorry to hear that you've suffered like that."
"My hometown has had a gentle monarchy for as long as i've lived. That is to say until about 15 years ago, when the current king came into power. Cannibalism... Not fun." he frowns. "Well, at least I am able to do something about it. Your situation... much more dire."
"I left Honkachu due to the stagnation and the low-key racism that pervades the whole place. Nearly every corrupt leader was someone other than a strugel, which of course is used as a statistic for modern politicians. No one else is allowed to own businesses on the island, and they're regarded with great suspicion if they do anything beyond the most basic tourism. It's a meritocracy, too, so your ability to provide the best service determines your ability to lead for some Volsdadt-damned reason. At least we have a power struggle so evil people need to actually work for their rulership."
Felix gives a bow. "I'm glad I could help. Could I come in? We haven't talked in a while, what with current events and all."
He looks down and stops strumming, playing a single dissonant note. "You really hurt them. Can we talk about that? I don't think you want to be the bad guy. Not in this story, at least."
"Oh, of course!" She opens the door fully, stepping to the side.
It is silent for a second. "Ah... that child is Tim, is it not?" It returns to silence.
He waddles inside, looking around at the studies on the nature of fear with a sort of awe. "Wow! You've got a lot of monsters in here!"
"Yes." He replies simply. His gentle tone hasn't changed at all. "Do you know why you did that?"
The handful of mannequins in the workshop all turn their heads in unison to look right at Felix as soon as he enters the building, silently watching him. "Made 'em myself! Each and every one of these darling horrific creations has a unique design."
"It wasn't worth the risk to keep him around." It replies simply, as though talking about the weather. "Too many powerful beings looking for him, and he had already played his part in what's to come. This was the only way it could have ended without worse consequences."

Felix tilts his head, then puts a paw on John's face to force the man to look at him. "I'd be up for it."
"No. No, baby. You're young. You make mistakes. You learn. You grow. They took advantage of you. They were being malicious. Do you know what that means? It means bad on purpose." He offers Tim the sweater, knitted out of soft, magic-resistant cables. "You did nothing wrong."
He looks down to them, his eyes tired “Fine, if you want to try and be my friend I’ll take the effort.” He says, going back to drinking.
He takes the sweater, taking off his usual jacket and putting the sweater on, hugging them softly “T-thank you, I just… I don’t know what to do anymore.”
"Thank you. Trust me when I say I'll almost surely outlive you, so you don't need to worry about losing me. I died once. Didn't like it."
"While that is just your choice... could I make a suggestion?" He hugs back with similar gentleness.

“Sounds like a good man who will enjoy every moment of life with you.” He smiles “I’m happy for you Lilac.”
She takes the glass, draining it slowly while looking them up and down “If you say so.” She stands up, looking down to them “How about something less… cursed?”
"We are engaged." she smiles stupidly, tapping her forepaws excitedly.
"Sure. I just got in a 40 year old vintage whiskey. would you like some?"
He smiles widely back at her, patting her head “That sounds wonderful, I hope he lives a long and happy life with you, every day better than the last.”
She licks her extraordinarily long fangs “I would like that, I haven’t had anything like that in a long time.”
"Thank you. Trust me when I say I'll almost surely outlive you, so you don't need to worry about losing me. I died once. Didn't like it."

He looks down with his glittering blue eyes, a gentle smile on his lips. "I want you to come to my class. I have plenty of kids your age there. They'll love you. I teach them to accept others. No matter what. I think you could make some friends there."

He looks up to them, and for a moment his eyes are confused before beginning to cry into their shirt “T-thank you so much. I-I would love to.”

"Eh, it's cool. I was benefiting from the broken systems, and I decided I didn't want to be a part of it. I left because I wanted to come back someday and try and make some reform. I actually returned for a bit after you supposedly died. I couldn't make a dent. If anything, it just got worse. They even looked at me with suspicion.
