Eventually he runs out of questions, understanding as much as he can as he begins to practice magic, asking for Omori’s help every time he hits a wall, starting with simply cantrips, though unable to harness his power.
He raises an eyebrow “I’ve seen monsters, you are far from one.” He gets up, putting knife down, and looking to them “I’m sorry you have to deal with people thinking that.” He smiles softly at them.

Omori tries to help him best she can. She's still a novice at magic herself, but tries to use what knowledge she has to guide him through the spellcasting process.
She smiles a bit back at them. "It's fine- I don't give them much of my attention. Thank you, though."

She smiles a bit back at them. "It's fine- I don't give them much of my attention. Thank you, though."
Eventually, after a long time of consistent effort while trying to cast the spell Light, he finally gets it to work, unfortunately because of his lack of control, his closer to a supernova rather than a regular light, though it immediately fades after a mere moment.
He chuckles “You know, if my lips weren’t stained with a bit of blood, I would kiss you right now.” He then grabs his knife and goes back to carving, humming to himself.
*Okay. Tired. I've been working on a villain for a while, and it's hard to make a character who strikes a balance between "cripplingly mentally ill" and "redeemable." He's an omnicidal maniac and a father figure at the same time. I'm trying to find a way to keep people from just killing him instantly, since people will find a way to do that. My current plan is that he only goes on killing sprees against bad people, since those are the ones he wants as demonic minions.*
*I just realized that my bad guy should have something to lose. Right now he has literally nothing. Like, he can't even permanently lose his life. Maybe he has a cat or something.*

Once the spell ends up working, it shines so brightly that Omori has to cover their eyes, but once it fades away, all that's left after the initial shock is joy. "Wow, that was amazing!" She jovially says. "You did it so quickly, too! And it was so bright..."
She is frozen there for a while, a mixture of surprise and a little bit of happiness on her brightly blushing face, just processing and internally doubting if she heard him correctly. After about a minute, she takes a breath, and goes back to finishing reattaching the head of the mannequin, which doesn't really understand what's going on.

His own eyes need to take a moment to adjust, after which he looks at his hands, which are trembling “How did I…? Was that me?” He says, doubting that he has all of that power within himself, surprised by how bright it was as well “Are you sure that was me?”

*sounds fun. I kind of want to create a very powerful and magnificent creature that could very well be the evil over the top villain mastermind he was born to be, but instead spends his current time playing the minion or body guard to another creature.
Why would such a glorious creature demean himself to doing grunt work or acting like a brutish enforcer? Well...because he is bored and doesn't want to be the one in charge of anything this century. Plus, he can still make some coin this way for his hoard.
I don't know, just what I've got so far.*
