The Barley king is a great deity of the harvest, of abundance, and of alcohol. It appears once every thirteen years upon this world, and it is supposedly responsible for all crops and harvests across the entire world, and cultivated plants would cease to grow without their influence. The Barley king taught mortals to create alcohol, and their followers have the ability to bless alcoholic drinks and make them extremely potent, or imbue them with beneficial magics. The Cult of the Barley king often sacrifice grain and livestock to the king by burning them inside of wickermen. However, there is something not very widely known about the Cult of the Barley king: every thirteen years, when their god appears in this world, either as a young maiden or as lamb, the Cult of the Barley King, to ensure that the harvest continues to be bountiful and plants continue to grow, must sacrifice the Barley King’s form upon the altar, then turning what is left of their (now plantlike) body into a special alcoholic beverage, sharing and drinking it during the autumn holiday they hold in Mid-November.
