Seeing that I haven't found a thread for this, I've decided to create a thread for the sharing of your most strange/creative/insane encounter experiences from a party you were part of or DM'd for.
Its all about having fun!
I'll start with one of my favorites from a MLP 5e campaign were my Character Lucius DeFur (Lucy) was in a sort of Cyberworld Demension there was a mercenary wearing a sort of gauntlet claw, Lucy loved it so much he want to steal it. The DM asked me if I was sure seeing as the person was wearing it. Lucy was sure so I rolled and nat 20!! So somehow Lucy managed to steal the gauntlet's software and blueprints and was able to make one with the help of an NPC techy.
Its all about having fun!
Most recently I was DMing the very (VERY) beginning of The Mines of Phandellver adventure to give some new players a way to learn the game and I had 2 guys that were SO bored that they decided to steal the cart after the 1st encounter when 3 characters who knew goblin were interrogating. They somehow managed to pass like 7 consecutive stealth checks each and the others spent an hour IRL to re-siege the cart because they REALLY wanted to play it all out instead of using narration. The Cleric spent the last ten minutes of that time period praying for a speed blessing because he was slow enough he couldn't catch up to the cart no matter what. Long story short (after multiple religion checks including two natural 1s in a row) that character is now no longer allowed to pray to Dionysus (the cleric's backstory and pantheon were Greek)
Do not expect people to be smart, but do not allow them to be stupid. If there is one thing I have learned it is this.

A dwarf with a canoe on his back? What could go wrong?
I tried to use mage hand to pretty much play "operation" on a zombie I failed the medicine check 🙁 but think in creative ways with mage hand (and FrEaKy ways too.)
I had a player who asked me if they could infuse an arrow with fire bolt. I said yes if they crit on an Arcana check. They rolled a Nat 20. Their attack roll was a natural 1. Long story short, they burnt the ship down, and our barbarian ended up punting a goblin into a hole made by the fire.

Not really funny but,
We were playing 3e (no im not that old my dm just insisted 3e instead of 5e) and he rolled a secret number and asked the youngest player to roll, the youngest rolled a 10 out of 100.
Dm said if he guessed that the dms number was smaller then his small number we would be rewarded but if he wasn't we would be punished. So since his roll was small he should say higher. Everyone was saying "say higher you rolled a ten we won't be punished if you you say higher and get it wrong" "Higher Higher Higher" "hhhhmmmmmm.... LOWER" dm:"wrong I rolled 87. a level two shark appears at your level one feet" long story short, everyone excluding me (so, two other people) jumped in the ocean. One of them got eaten and the one that was a shark person drowned. Then I sailed the ship around back to land and the campaign was over
