'At the moment, there isn't anyone living down in the sewers of this town, but there's always a few in the big major cities. And yeah, I guess I try to be a decent person. But even I am, a few years down the line, gonna be a surface-dweller, and I kinda hope it doesn't change me too much. I mean, riding down the drains on a rubber tyre is basically the human equivalent of getting flushed down the toilet. Will future me be grossed out by it? Will I start looking down on things I never did before? I sure hope not.'

"It seems to me like you've spent so much of your life down here that no matter what you do or where you go next, you'll still be a sewer dweller at heart, and that isn't a bad thing. I hope you have many more happy rides down the drains, and maybe you can even bring your future kids along someday."

'Oh, I will. Ya right, the surface won't change me. Heck, me and Ashleigh even chose the local landfill as our honeymoon destination! Don't question it'

"You guys sound perfect for each other. Although I don't I'd choose the landfill for a honeymoon, I'm glad it makes you both happy. That's all that really matters."

'Indeed it is. I'd say she is pretty perfect for me. And not just because I have incredibly limited experience of women'

"I'm not exactly an expert on women either. Clem was really the first person I felt truly wanted me around, and didn't just feel bad for me."

'Feel bad for ya? Sorry to hear it'

"It's fine. I'm just a bit of an outcast myself, especially back home. People thought I was the weird awkward girl who talked about death too much, and they did their best to stay out of my way for the most part. But now here I am, riding down sewers with a stranger!"

'Ya not weird, or awkward, trust me. When I was a kid I was practically feral, and considered to be vermin by most people, including myself, but I didn't care. And if ya need a friend here, ya got me.'

"Thank you, that means a lot. I don't have a whole lot of friends but I'll be very glad to count you as one."

'Same. Friends are good. Took me way to long to realise that'

"Indeed. Everyone needs people to rely on, no matter how much of an outcast you are."

'I guess so. Hey, ya wanna go to the Wolf and Rat Tavern?'

"Sounds great! You'll have to show me the way though."

'Sure, will do!'

Flint slithers up a pipe, scuttles through a bunch of tunnels, and emerges from the toilet of the tavern.

'Hey Ash! Ya there?'
