Lil packs up her equipment, tucking the book and pencil back in her belt. "You can have these back in a minute Bob but you'll need both hands free to get up the ladder."
At the temple, there is a statue. Inscribed on it is 'The Human', and a lengthy story.
The story is of a man, one of the first men of the world. He knew nothing about the higher powers, and did try to fight against them, in an attempt to gain understanding. Messengers from a higher plane attempted to contact him, but he did not understand, and killed them. As a result, he was cursed to be besieged, every night, by an army of terrible monsters. And every time he died, he would be reborn in a new, identical body, and his old body raised again to join the mob of monsters. But he did not give in, even fighting against those who attempted to speak truth, in search of what he believed was true. He was an agent of chaos, although he did not yet know it, but after a while, even the Lawful One himself began to see something likeable in him and his misguided quest. Eventually, he broke into the higher planes, having learned how to, and did steal a great trophy that would have, if not removed, caused a quickening of the End. But by then, the forces of the multiverse were on his side, and they spoke into his mind, giving him finally the revelations he so badly yearned for. But they never stopped the monster raids. They were a part of his life, a part that pushed him ever onwards, into the new dream

You guys are awesome and mean so much to me. And mean so much to each other.
'Yep, that's the guy. Bob must have been one of the prophets he killed on his blind search for knowledge. Strange, I'd often looked on The Human in a good light, I guess because the Higher Ones had come to admire his persistence and ingenuity that he developed, and he did slay several creatures of evil along the way. But yeah, I guess such a chaotic, ambitious guy would have done a lot of bad as well, I'd just never really thought of it that way.'
*do you get where the story is from?*

'It is a strange story. Maybe because it's the story of all of us- thrashing around in the dark, looking for answers, screwing up on the way, but developing as a person, maybe even reaching something higher?'

"I don't know if I've heard of The Human before. My parents weren't big on religion or bedtime stories. He sounds like a pretty unpleasant character if you ask me, but I guess nobody's perfect."

The story is of a man, one of the first men of the Overworld. He knew nothing about the higher powers of the End, and did try to fight against them, in an attempt to gain understanding. Endearment attempted to contact him, but he did not understand, and killed them. As a result, he was cursed to be besieged, every night, by an army of terrible monsters. And every time he died, he would be respawned in a new, identical body, and his old body raised as a Zombie again to join the mob of monsters. But he did not give in, even fighting against the prophet villagers, in search of what he believed was true. He was an agent of chaos, although he did not yet know it, but after a while, even the Lawful One himself began to see something likeable in him and his misguided quest. Eventually, he broke into the End, having learned how to, and did steal a great trophy, the Ender Dragon Egg that would have, if not removed, caused a quickening of the End. But by then, the forces of the multiverse were on his side, and they spoke into his mind, giving him finally the revelations he so badly yearned for, in the form of the End Poem. 'Maybe he's meant to be a representation of human flaws, a capacity for cruelty and ignorance as well as hope and perseverance'

"Yeah, that makes sense. Very deep stuff."
*Oh my goodness that is wonderful, never thought minecraft could be used as worldbuilding inspo but I have been proved very wrong*

"Humans sure do have a lot of flaws, I guess it's good to have something that reminds us of that now and again."
'Thanks to my connection with the Third, I've got a bit of an affinity with all these old legends. Some are pretty cool! And never without a profound statement!'
*Minecraft can actually be used for decent lore, if you interpret things in different ways. One of the beauties of the game is you can fill in your own lore or what everything is. In fact, much of my earlier world building took place on Minecraft, so I just transferred my interpretations of Minecraft lore over into D&D*

"That sounds like a great idea! C'mon Bob, let's get you to the temple."
Flint smiles at Kiara with the bone. It sort of reminds him of his childhood.
'Because I have just read Bob's description of Steve. I think I know what happened to Steve'
