Flower mythology?
well, mythology and myths related to flowers. so that'd be like:
hyacinths are for forgiveness because when apollo hit his mortal lover, hyacinthus, in the head and killed him during a game of discus, hyacinth flowers sprouted up from the ground where hyacinthus' blood fell. apollo wanted forgiveness for killing him, hence why they stand for forgiveness.
or tulips (specifically red tulips) are for true, strong love, because of the turkish myth of farhad and shirin, where farhad loved shirin but shirin's father did not agree to give farhad shirin's hand. depends on who you ask, either shirin is murdered, OR shirin's father gives an impossible task to farhad to win her hand, and farhad actually manages to complete the task, and shirin's father sends farhad a message saying that shirin was murdered (even though she wasn't). either way, wrought with grief, farhad rides his horse off a cliff, and when he hits the ground, red tulips start to grow!
or foxgloves are for magic and secrecy, because there's this victorian myth that they fey made their homes in the cup-shaped flowers. and because you don't mess with the fey, you don't pick foxglove flowers! which is probably for the best, considering they're highly toxic.
that's what i mean by the mythology around flowers. i've got a whole book on it lol

I have a question. In Hellboy, he hears that lilies have begun to grow out of the ground where his blood was spilt. Is there a symbolic meaning of lilies?
Also, do you know anything about the symbolic meaning of dandelions?

i don't know a lot about Hellboy (other than what you can gather from the name, i guess) but lilies, especially white lilies, stand for purity. the meaning originates from depictions of the Holy Mary in catholic and christian depictions of the mother of god, she's commonly seen surrounded by white lilies. i'll have to look into other meanings if the color of lily was mentioned in Hellboy and it wasn't specifically white lilies, but yeah generally they stand for purity :)
dandelions are for luck, and well-wishes. i'm not sure if this is predominant in other parts of the world (it might, idk), but at least in here in southwest/midwest america one of the most predominant tidbits of folklore that has been kept around in modern times since the victorian era, i think, is that if you make a wish while you blow the seeds of a dandelion seed head, the wish will come true!

The images of the lilies were white. Your info matches with Hellboy. He is the son of a demon and a human, so he often struggles with his demonic heritage. The entire world is telling him that he is a demon, but he decides that he is a human. I guess it might be to show that even though he has the strength and appearance of a demon, he is not one and is as human as the rest of us. Something like that. The whole series is full of awesome symbolism.
Spread the weed and gain a wish. I was just wondering because there is a book series, One Hundred Cupboards, where the main character has magic dandelion powers. It is an awesome series with a lot of druid-like characters. I strongly suggest people read it. I was just wondering if the dandelion had any symbolic importance in the book, but I don't think that is it.
My fav Greek mythological figure has to be either Atlanta, as she's super swift and can take on anyone in a race, or Circe, as she is cunning and clever and able to trick some of the finest heroes in existence with relative ease.

Yes! Someone else who knows Atalanta! She's dope, and I love that she actually gets some choice in who she marries. I also really love Achilles (and Patroclus of course), and I think Medusa deserved so much better.
