"It's complicated, and to be perfectly honest I'm not a arcanophysicist, so I don't know."
"Okay, how much would a whole demiplane full be then, exactly."
"It's a source, not a container. I can provide as much as you could need. I just want the enmity levied against you. I tried to start wars before, but most other factions have other things to do. We reproduce by converting others, which we are only allowed to do during wartime. You are about to be plunged into war, and I want to take it off your hands."

Fantastic. Yondor walks around and between the creatures, looking for any humans, and potentially any unattended items of interest. He holds a few papers with writing on them, posing as a messenger in case any construct stops him and asks why he's there.
There's a few simple weapons lying around, but the only item that could be of any interest is a cross like totem hanging around the biggest constructs neck. It's a simple base, the roof nothing more than a thick sheet, and the only furniture being some map tables and barrels full of drinks. Roll perception to spot them men you're trying to save.
Deciding not to push his luck with the totem, he looks for the men.

*I see. Sorry about the confusion. The portal is in a back corner of the Grand Library: Not the easiest to spot, but a 22 definitely can see it.*
The date on a back corner of the blueprint shows that this design is... only four months old?
"Last I saw them was about three months ago, moving metal from one of the labs to... somewhere. I haven't seen them since."
"I was here 4 months ago, and I have no memory of this... do you know if the design was ever built?"
"I... I don't know. I haven't seen any evidence of its creation. Perhaps the project was abandoned?" Amidais seems just as confused.
"Maybe so. But with the imposter queen, and this doctor searching for 01, I don't know what to believe."
"These are confusing times, and confusing spaces..." Amidais looks a bit closer at the spaceship blueprint. "Wait, this engine design... no, that doesn't make sense..."
"What are you thinking?"
*Good morning, everyone!*
Amidais continues inspecting the blueprint. "The design of this engine suggests it uses catalysts in the form of planar shards, specifically Feywild and Shadowfell shards. Given these planes are anathema to one another, this would result in an explosion of pure planar energy when the shards are brought together in this way. Such an explosion would likely create an immense amount of force to propel a spacecraft forward... but it would also cause immense degrees of planar instability..."
He grows increasingly perplexed as he continues to read.

Amidais realizes that the King is confused, and tries to explain what he just said with less of the arcano-sciency mumbo jumbo.
"Yes. Very long distances, actually, and to do so it uses explosions created by bringing together energy from planes that are opposite of one another. These opposites don't like being brought together, and when they touch, both sides release tremendous amounts of planar energy. These explosions, being born of this planar energy, can disrupt the energy of our plane of existence, which can lead to... odd things happening. Sure, it can propel a ship into space, but activating such a device could have devastating consequences down here."

"Well, there's several things that could have happened." Amidais takes a piece of paper (a blank one) from his briefcase.
"Imagine that this sheet of paper is the Material Plane, the realm in which we reside. Activating that engine would be like... like taking an eyedropper filled with water, and emptying it onto the paper. When the paper gets wet, it sags, changes shape... it takes much less effort to tear. The nature of this engine means there's a random factor to its explosions: There could only be a small drop of water, or an entire eyedropper could be emptied onto the paper. Only a drop could be manageable if the paper is left to dry again, but any more than that could lead to permanent damage. This damage can warp the paper, create holes and tears, or at its worst... No, that would never happen. That can never happen."

"So they could have... traveled between planes? And... broken them?"
"Well, this design doesn't seem to be able to travel between the planes, per se, but it can cover great distances within those planes. But, yes... it can harm the plane it resides in, and if these scars aren't dealt with accordingly... break them entirely."
