I just read that you can post inventions here for rank (according to the main post). That Spider Priest title is as good as mine!

I am unruly in the stands (I am a rock on top of the sand) I am a fist amidst the hands And I make a wreck out of my hand (I make a fist and not a plan) And I break it just because I can
The Fulminating Column (an actual weapon from a campaign where I played an Artificer. I invented it for the dragon paladin player.)-
Invented by a demented artificer, this weapon resembles a sword with a spiked metal spine in place of a blade. It was designed for a bronze dragon with a thing for heavy metal aesthetics and blood magic. The device stabs into the palm of the wielder and drains their blood, causing any magic within the blood to enter the "blade." For example, a sorcerer might be able to use it as spell focus, while a red dragon could coat the blade in fire.
The segments of the weapon disconnect at the flick of a switch, granting the weapon more blood power and greater reach.

Hey! Kinda all or nothing on the forums lately, please excuse me for being late to most parties.
The Blackprint (same artificer, level 20 one-shot, so I got to have an artifact)-
The embodied cruelty of the mad artificer Oswald Grouper, this set of designs has developed a foul sentience of its own through the power of Vile Darkness. It can speak telepathically to its bearer, but as it turns out, even with its incredible intellect, its ideas are cruel and unusual, harmful enough that the mere thought of them repulses Good creatures. However, the reader gleans wicked inspiration from the Blackprint's plots...
The plans are constantly shifting to a new, more ingenious idea, from mechanical armies to smog-belching factories to Infernal Engines. These plans are more than just ideas, though, and can be put to practice relatively easily by a skilled artificer. In fact, Oswald was known to have an oil-spraying dragon construct with him at all times, eventually even giving it three heads.
Another trait of the Blackprint is that it wants to be stationary. It will grant the creator armies of construct servants to build them a lair, a building both well-fortified and well-stocked with the tools and materials needed to fulfill the Blackprint's vile ideations.
The plans have negative effects, however, making the air and water within miles of the bearer's lair polluted to the point that they become distinctly deep-grey colored. It also causes the bearer to constantly smell of smoke and be unable to speak when far away from their artifact. The bearer also becomes incredibly ambitious, often neglecting their loved ones and pets in order to "make the world a better place," even though the concepts presented to them by the Blackprint are meant to help the bearer exclusively.

Awesome, you're getting close to a promotion. Just note that you won't be able to rank up just purly with inventions, I will need to see some longer commitment to the guild and some helping of others before I can move you up.

The party is tasked to take down a beholder who made a fiendish deal. One of the players is very experienced, and knows how to take down a beholder, using a devilsight warlock with darkness. They make it past the minions and most of the traps. They meet the beholder. Initiative is rolled, and the experienced warlock goes first. They cast darkness. The beholder is next, and fires their eye rays at the warlock-
