Savut is frantically sealing her rivers and withering her trees, as the savotra retreat to the Tower, the beetles enter the closing fissures to nest beneath the earth, and the pagidons wilt away. She is clearly terrified of Coginitius coming back and seeing what she’s done, to the point that it’s overcoming her natural instinct to protect her new best in time for Metamorphosis.
Arsendir is helping Savut, and with two high level will’s power, they’re probably getting it done pretty quickly. They also wipe out and steal the souls of any of those corrupted mortals they come across.
telepathically with Savut, he says, we blame Happy chaos. Cogintius will erase him and we never speak of this. Although I would like to keep contact in case we ever work together again. Understand?
Balatro holds still for a second, looking shocked. Then he teleports back to the entrance. When he reappears, he’s looking down at the blade of his master. His eye sockets, commonly home to small silvery pinpricks like the pupils of the living, now only shine with a dull red glow. “I failed. And maybe I can’t make up for it. But I can do something else.” He whispers, any trace of humor utterly gone from his voice.

*Ah everyone is playing into his hands, doing exactly what he wants in the end. Which is making mortals stronger than they are now, absolutely amazing.*
*Cant play into your hands if I just remove the corruption. Plus all those poor souls that now hate Happy are wonderful* 😉
*I love how you think that's stopping him. Happy knows he isn't playing the hero in this story, and he's fine with that.*
*Hey, I’m not trying to stop him, just protecting my own.😁*
*And unwittingly dancing right into Happy’s hands, thank you for your participation.*

She smiles. Of course. You’ve done an excellent job in maintaining our positions of power. We work well together. If possible, we should try and get together again sometime soon. And also, I still have my little spies amid the unwitting populace… and one last contingency in case he finds out about our little city-sitting escapade.

and what is that? I was planning on making up some excuse about how swampifying the city temporarily makes your soldiers more effective, and perhaps dismiss citizens angry at us as dramatizing it, but of course there is more that needs covering…

Oh, uh, it’s not a plan to change the narrative. Though I have been doing my best to plant evidence of there being an actual cult of Faltros, so that might keep them tricked, but… my contingency was more a way to attack Cog. I’ve brewed up a horrible little disease that can certainly do some harm. The first strain is hidden in the Tower, and if I trigger it, it will begin to reproduce and most likely weaken him. Just in case.

*does thou have a name for this plague yet? Because I might have a few ideas*
*Anybody want to rp. Probably with my characters other than Happy.*
*sure, Rulundra is out and about and The UNKNOWABLE keeps missing everybody right when they’re all in one place for a cryptic warning*
*Did you say out and about? Hmm.* Suddenly Slayer is walking beside them, drinking a glass of wine. Very unsettling how he seemingly just appeared there, when they turn their head he winks at them.
*Unfortunately you have sort of implied that nothing that my wills or I can do will stop the destruction of everything they have built, so it’s hard not to see it any other way. Either I get to feel like my fun is being crapped on, or I have to crap on your fun by just ignoring it (which I don’t want to do either) and it will just make me feel bad regardless. And also, I’m a bit stressed out due to real life things at the moment, so that isn’t helping how I’m feeling or my current mental state.
I’m just going to take a bit of a break from this thread for the time being, since I’m just making myself unnecessarily upset at the moment.*

*No, I’d love to hear your suggestions*
It attacks the gastric lining in the stomach, as well as the liver. By affecting the blood within, it can form painful ulcers that can lead to internal bleeding, fistulas, and starvation even if you eat. It’s a nasty thing. Though it could never kill an overgod, it’s filled with profane magicks and my own power to spread incredibly rapidly, faster than even perhaps a god could heal it.

How dreadful, it’s perfect. Highly contagious, I assume? And by the way, will you be departing once Cogintius returns or will you stay a while to help smooth everything out with him? And would it be possible that… we could arrange some sort of… accident for one of the elders? Put someone loyal to us with them in their place, probably someone Cogintius would think would be a good candidate. Just an idea, perhaps.
