The Captain nods his thanks to Damian and turns to Izzy. “Indeed I am. Captain Nathaniel Cairn, leader of the Notched Blades and ally of freedom fighters everywhere.”
"I know who you are. we've actually met before"
He smiles awkwardly. “That so? Forgive my poor memory, but your name escapes me.”
"It's Izzy. you actually taught me to fish"
“Hmm . . .” Cairn frowns and scratches his head. “Oh, yes, I remember now! On the Gut, so many years ago! How have you been, old friend?”
"yes! I've been good!"
”And how on Earth did you manage to find this ship? It’s a feat even the Athene Crusader hasn’t managed, after all.”

*Oh- Just wait Notch. YOU'LL MESS UP SOMEDAY! Then I'll bring back the Crusader lol.*
*Welp- Since Kasrik vanished I guess it falls apon me to start spreading some more lore throughout the Threads. Weird Ominous Poem and then Intro incoming!* Note: I won't actually RP with this character unless it is needed. Think of it as some Weird Ominous thing.
"In the dark depths of the Seven Seas, Where shadows dance with eerie ease, Beneath the moon's faint, flickering light, Lurks a realm of terror, black as night.
Sailors whisper of the horrors they've seen, Of ghastly specters, cruel and keen, Phantoms rise from watery graves, Their haunting wails, like howling waves.
Beware the Kraken, ancient and vast, With tentacles that grip with deadly grasp, Its monstrous form, a sight to dread, Leaving sailors trembling with fear and dread.
The Siren's song, so sweet and beguiling, Draws sailors in with promises, smiling, But beneath the surface lies a deadly lure, As they drown in depths, forever unsure..."
. . .
"In the murky depths, where shadows dwell, An ancient pirate's tale I'll tell, Cursed by greed, his soul to keep, Trapped by a spell, in eternal deep..."
In the heart of the Bermuda Triangle, where whispers of lost souls echo through the mist-shrouded air, a legendary pirate ship rises from the depths of the sea. With tattered sails billowing in the eerie breeze and timbers creaking with ghostly echoes, the spectral vessel emerges from the watery abyss. Upon its weathered decks stands the figure of a once-feared captain, now cursed to roam the ocean depths for all eternity. With hollow eyes fixed on the horizon, the ancient pirate's ghostly form commands the ship, forever bound to the realm between the living and the dead.
They smile a barely Toothy grin, and with a whispereing word, these words escape tehir lips; "I return? What a fortunate turn of events!"
(Nothic, If you don't think this fits with your lore or anything in this world just say so and I'll delete the post :b)
For the past few hours, the Captain and his former first mate have been talking animatedly, appearing at various times to be eager, sorrowful, concerned, and joyful. Alistair takes the lead in the conversation, recounting many months’ worth of events to the Captain. The topic of their discussion has been entirely confidential, until, apparently now.
The Captain stands and turns to address the assembled crew. His eyes shine with faint tears as he opens his mouth to speak.
"My friends, companions, and followers. I have a major announcement to make, one that will forever change the course of this ship and its mission.
“For the last six months, my sole enemy on land and at sea has been the Great British Empire and their corrupt puppets in the United Merchant Conglomerate. The Empire is organized in a hierarchical, caste-based system based on an officer’s physical well-being and loyalty to Queen Victoria XV, who has served as the Empire’s longest-ruling monarch due to her vampiric nature and aversion to regicide.”
Cairn pauses for a moment to take a deep breath. “You all have joined the crew of this ship for a variety of reasons. Many of you seek to escape from the wider world and its many evils, most notably our crumbling governments and failing institutions. Some have joined out of boredom, or a feeling of stagnation; these folks are searching for the new purpose and sense of productivity that we on the Barnacle can easily provide. “All of you have faced violence, be it physical or emotional; all of you have felt hopeless and alone; and all of you have looked to this ship as a sanctuary, a sort of warrior’s respite. That’s not to say the Bloody Barnacle is a safe place, far from it, but it provides a sort of familial trust — the knowledge that we can rely on each other when all else fails.” He shakes his head. “I apologize, friends — I’m rambling. My intent is to inform you of two facts. The first is that I’ve been lying to you, and the second is that the Queen is dead.”
Cairn smiles, showing pointed teeth. “You see, my friends, I’ve been drafting you — analyzing each and every one of you, deciding who to recruit to my faction and who to discard entirely. This group in particular has shown great promise, and I hope you all realize I hold you all in the highest regard.
“Oh, yes, this vessel isn’t the only Bloody Barnacle sailing across the seven seas — far from it! The Notched Blades, led by yours truly, has assembled a grand fleet of these majestic watercraft — eighteen sailing ships, twelve galleons like this one, and two experimental ‘submersibles’ crafted by the brightest minds in the Spider Guild. My goal has always been to take down the Queen and her followers, by any means necessary, but now that goal has shifted. Drastically.
“The deed wasn’t my doing. It was a calculated sabotage from the inside, led by a trio of the Ol’ Vic’s most trusted generals. It seems that these fine folks were dissatisfied with their roles in the Empire’s hierarchy, and decided it’d be much better off without these bothersome ghouls running things. Can’t say I disagree. I believe this group has already met one of the generals, one 'Beves Athene.’ Well done handling his crew, by the way — one of the other Barnacles didn’t get away so easily.”
Cairn shrugs. “That’s all I got, to be honest. Our war with the Empire is only just beginning, and I’ve just received word of the whereabouts of another general, an old enemy of mine called Caspian Reeves. I’ll happily share more information on the details of the Queen’s death, in which our very own Alistair Tao played an instrumental role. New Zealand is a nice place to live, and if you feel overly betrayed by my deception you’re free to leave now. However, if you decide to stay, I promise you things will soon be getting very, very interesting.”
*These posts mark the beginning of the Apocalypse Yesterday arc. I’ll be more fully fleshing out this campaign setting as the plot develops, and hopefully I can restore this place to its former glory while I’m at it. This doesn’t mean Monks’ encounter is over, only that the overall world order has shifted slightly. What emerges from the ashes of the old Empire is up to you all to decide.*
*Incidentally, an Athene Crusader rematch is almost certainly coming. Just watch out for the dragons.*
Angler is also confused. But considering he's one of the newer guys, he's not as angry or anything.
Normiah, on the other hand, is in total shock and disbelief. "I've been here for (some amount) days..." He silently mutters to himself. He walks off to process the information.
