Hey Arch, I've been thinking about that Hag Coven thing we were working on. The idea of making the personification of night a character sounds super fun but also difficult because of how much material can be used. If they are a direct personification, they will probably be a more ethereal, incomprehensible force that interacts with people but is... a little out there.
The connection to a Coven of other day witches is really cool. Night will probably have a good connection to Dawn, but Noon would be her opposite and weakness.
Yeah, maybe night could have something to do with the unknown and all of the things that we don’t know exist, and because hag those things could all be her children. Just a random idea I had.
Hey Dark! Question since you are super creative and stuff!
my main new character on the Lords rest, the Prince in Yellow, is trying to prevent the King in Yellow and Carcosa’s strange influence from seeping into the world, and it’s not 100% working, so some stuff should start happening, but what do you think should happen? I kinda wanted to play into the idea that the King is like an imaginary disease infecting artists and stuff, so I’m gonna kinda describe people like changing how they act and how things in the village are suddenly more grand and strange and that Symbol and that book are just suddenly everywhere, people start acting paranoid and stuff, and they keep seeing that thing following them home and they dream of black stars and and twin suns setting behind a lake, but I kinda need more ideas on how to show the effects of the King’s influence, if that isn’t already enough.
Baalz has done similar regional effects pretty well before. He would summarize what has been happening in an intriguing yet mysterious way, drawing your attention but not taking away the lure of the unknown. I would look back on some of those times.
Using elements from the book like that is smart. You could introduce a few small artist characters and when other players meet them they notice hints of their insanity. You could be on the lookout for when you see other characters practicing some form of art -- painting, music, dance, singing, writing, etc. There are plenty of artistically inclined characters around. Then describe something weird and eldritch happening to them or sneaking into their art. Maybe when someone glances at the sky describe them glimpsing those black stars for a second. Rose colored statues could also be a cool element to steal from the book.

The unknown would definitely be a part of her character. She would have an obsession over secrets and things done out of sight and in darkness. The Night provides a veil to conceal crimes and dreams, and yet she always watches.
I haven't thought of the mother aspect of witch hags, but it is a cool one.

Ooh, I forgot about the statues stuff. Anyways, thanks for the help. I’ll be starting the weirdness soon!
and if you’re curious, this version of the King in Yellow is basically infecting and slowly destroying realities because its angry (at least that’s the best the Prince understands it) and the Prince in yellow is half Human, the son of the King in Yellow and Cassilda (the “Queen” of Carcosa, who always has hated the King, her hatred for the King as well as her own madness eventually created the Prince.) I stole the idea for Cassilda to be a ruler in Carcosa from Pathfinder (I think it was originally their idea I think) who is standing up against the King after her city and kingdom was destroyed and absorbed by Carcosa. So yeah, it’s pretty cool.

I have a egregoric scarecrow spirit of famine and memory that I really want to introduce to Lord's Rest Inn but I haven't found the time yet.

That would be sick. Instead of being the literal birth mother of these "children", she could "adopt" the secrets she is most captivated by, giving it a physical form and caring for it as her child.

I ain't never played Call of Cthulhu but I want to try sometime. For those dark eldritch beings, I prefer them to be the driving force behind the story, incorporeally influencing the events but never showing up. I wrote a short adventure based off the King in Yellow that I haven't had the chance to run yet with that concept.
I really want a successful tavern. and I know, grimmshire was good in its day, but I just want a cool tavern that can attract loads of different people, with a unique setting, and all that stuff.
I AM TERRIBLE AT HAVING IDEAS SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP

Hi! I'm EJO. I am a silly billy who forgets to play Genshin Impact every day and totally DOESN'T simp for at least three different ninja girls. Some other facts about me:
Milio has been ditched. Now Xerath is my friend.
My average accuracy in Marvel Rivals is about 15%.
I think I’ll get to work on the first draft of “Nightmare’s Claw.” Anyone want to be a mod?
I could! I might be able to come up with a cool character.
Great! Send me ideas and stuff. I think I’ll release the base thread, then edit and improve it as I go along
Alrighty! Now one question, is the tavern in like some sort of pocket or dream dimension, is it in the material, like just where is it basically?
another thing, could I play as one of the staff members? Not exactly sure yet, but maybe like an entertainer or something, I’ll think about it.
Just had a great idea. You could be the resident poltergeist, who sends drinks flying through the air to customers. They could enter a suit of armor for interactions (reminiscent of animated armor), and I’d be fine with bending the rules a bit so they could talk

I like that idea, and it sorta inspired an idea I had to go along with it:
this character, the invisible force that serves drinks and food and stuff, founded the tavern with the Gargoyle. But eventually, everyone forgot about him, and he spent more and more time alone, feeling abandoned as the Gargoyle stopped even checking on him and basically entirely took over the tavern. The Creature’s magic still serves the food, as it’s their tavern too, and they want to take care of it, but their true form can’t leave the basement. They can create projections of their voice on like record players and instruments and pictures of their body in paintings and pictures and stuff, and they are just kinda there. Nobody knows who he is, and he’s mad about that.
That works. Send me a name and a brief description and I can add them to the staff
Alrighty, how about the mascot? (Or at least, that’s what they introduce themselves as, because there is literally nothing in the entire tavern about them)
they are a smiling, tiny shadowy creature with two little horns and has a constant sort of aura that makes them look like a projection on an old projector. Kinda imagine Bendy from Bendy and the Ink Machine except slightly less cartoonish.
I did just release a tavern not that long ago, but I just had a really good idea.
Imagine a sort of ragnarok tavern, at the edge of the world. An arctic bar in a land of swords and ice for dragir, those who died in battle, and both gods and demigods. The bartender is a sort of Fenris wolf god character. May be featuring some version of the Norns.
Thoughts and suggestions? Feedback is what makes this stuff possible!
