A spcaeballs 2 sounds, well, idk. Star Wars has been pretty laughable recently but people make fun of it so much already making a movie making fun of it seems… just not that entertaining. Like, would Monty Python be as funny as it is if everyone already thought of King Arthur as a joke
(taking this as someone who isn’t a huge spaceball fan though, it was enjoyable enough for the one time I watched it)

Yes, monthy python would still be funny. You can make a parody of something people think of as a joke or otherwise lowly. Look at scary movie. The entire point of the movie is to talk about how dumb horror movies are, but every already knows that. Doesn’t make scary movie bad though.
