My sibling has said I sound “fancy” when I talk online. I feel like the flow of texting, even more so forum posting, is just really different from real life, and so you have to speak differently. Often the forums are almost like quick mail, discussions with long periods inbetween for the other person to respond and think it over. Not always but I’ve definitely had talks like that on here.
then there’s accents and filler words that aren’t really used as much online (mostly talking about forums here, but they definitely appear less texting than irl too). also, it’s weird when you’re online and you realize that everyone has different accents you can’t hear.
also, probably just cause I’m neurodivergent, but recreating tone is not possible. Like knowing someone irl and then texting them already understanding how they talk, their intentions, and so and so, vs only interpreting their words through text has a huge impact on perception.
if I heard any of you talk in real life first I’d probably have a totally different interpretation of your posts
Really this whole thing is just saying it’s harder to convey meaning without body language, facial expressions, tone, and the natural flow of a real life conversation. I think this post is a mess but it’s 12:00 so I’m gonna go to bed and not worry about it
