He dribbles the ball absentmindedly as he taps his chin in thought before saying “If you think it’s your court then beat me off of the court. I ain’t scared to play you, are you?” He shoots and lands a perfect shot off the backboard “First to 21, that sounds fair enough to me.” He passes her the ball “Or maybe you’re afraid to lose, if so I’ll just sits on the bench and spit smack from there.”
The girl sneers and says 'You're on, squirt. But I'll warn you, I'm one of the best players in the state, so I'd watch your mouth.' She wanders into the centre of the court and waits for you to come over for tip off. As you come over, you can see that her pupils are concerningly wide, making her eyes almost entirely black, consuming her irises. She waits for you to take your place, and then says 'Your move, glasses boy. Game on.'
[We'll do this by making a series of Athletics checks. Three succeeded Athletics checks means you score a hoop, a failed check means the ball goes to the other person. With this process, it'll take years to get to 21, so I'd recommend we change it to 3 or 5. Also, I'm British so I know little to nothing about basketball, so I might mess up on rules and terminology]
He hands her the ball in the check and begins to play, obviously showing he’s going to steal the ball at the first slip up, though he does seem tired from his practice. His eyes are focused and he doesn’t use his ability. Athletics:18
[No probs, we'll go that a check that's over 10 is a success, and then a check that's ten or under is a fail, with the first check being the interception, second check being the dribble, and third check being the shot at the hoop. Since you clearly got over 10, you can go again!]
Now that he has the ball he begins heading towards the net, a smug grin in his face but nothing coming from his mouth. The sound of squeaking shoes fills the gymnasium. Athletics:3
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The girl sweeps round and backwards, stealing the ball from beneath you as you dribble. She gives a wink as she passes by, her round black eyes still disconcertingly large. She plays with a shockingly high level of proficiency, so maybe she wasn't bluffing about playing at state level. 16
Again, she dribbles down towards your end of the court with near perfect athleticism, before leaping and going for the dunk. However, for a second it looks like she lost her footing on the jump and was about to sail past the hoop by a whole metre, but in a split second, blink and you miss it moment, something suddenly changes about the hoop, then almost immediately reverts, and before her trainers are back down on the ground, the ball has already fallen through the net.
He applauds her, his grin changing, no longer smug. He picks up the ball and steps off the court, sitting on the bench and untying his shoes “You did good. Nice.”. Once his shoes are off he lays down on the bench and begins to hum, spinning the basketball on one finger.

Once his shoes are off he lays down on the bench and begins to hum, spinning the basketball on one finger. "I'll play against you again some other time if we run into each other again." After a while he sits up, putting the ball down "What's your power? Because I was lost in your eyes." He clicks and winks at her

The girl looks at the guy leave the court perplexed and goes 'Huh. More into a one and done type game then? Suit yourself.' She goes back to shooting shots with her spare ball, and talks as she throws, brushing over the guys awful attempt to flirt 'I can make any circle grow larger, but to a limit, and the bigger I make them, the shorter the effect lasts. Can't make any holes large enough to go through before it snaps shut, so best way to utilise it that I found is by expanding basketball hoops to expand over the whole court, then the hoop will sweep in again as it reverts to regular size to catch the ball on the rim at just the right moment so it falls through, all within a blink of an eye' She makes another shot and says 'Don't get me wrong, it requires precision, but I also make my pupils bigger so I can take in more light and see more. I ain't sure how that works, but it does.' She makes a final shot and says 'So what's your power?'

*It's good*
He shrugs "I don't play against other like that unless its a real game.". After she asks the question he claps his hands, the sound echoing through the gym, suddenly she is standing in front of him. He chuckles and lays back down on the bench, closing his eyes "Now tell me, super speed or teleportation?" He crosses his legs and begins humming, waiting for an answer.

She ponders for a bit and says 'Teleportation. Makes more sense that you'd have to clap your hands to teleport than go fast. Also, if you had super speed, basket ball would not be your go-to sport'

“Smart answer. Though I don’t play basketball because of my power. You’re as smart as you are good at basketball, and you’re pretty good at basketball I must admit.”
She shrugs and says 'I ain't too smart, just good at thinking logically. If you asked me to name every country in the world, I'd be stuffed, but I can solve a murder mystery in minutes'
“Well that isn’t being smart is it. If anyone could name every country in the world they just have a great memory. I’d say you’re smart but maybe I’m just dumb. Have you noticed you’re not playing basketball anymore?” He wags his finger with a grin.
She smiles and goes ‘That’s an interesting way to look at it. And yeah, obviously, I’ve had enough game time for one day.’ She absentmindedly throws the ball over her shoulder and in another split second expansion, the hoop bursts out and swallows it up, the basketball falling through the net and rolling towards her bag.
“Swish, nice. What’s your name stranger, I realize I haven’t exactly introduced myself. I’m Henri, a pleasure to meet you, even though I lost a game to you.” He stands up and bows low, his usual grin on his face and smile in his eyes, his headphones almost falling off at the lowest point.
The girl laughs at his bow, and says 'I'm April, nice to meet you Henri. Good to find a friendly competitor around here, most guys get real vexed when I mess with the hoop in a game.'

Once the ball is within her grasp, she retreats up court, past the halfway line and towards your hoop, looking to land her first shot soon. 14
