Long in the past, the oceans rose. All land is now underwater, even the highest mountains. All terrestrial air-breathers were wiped out or forced to adapt. The now-extinct air-breathers are referred to as "Terrans." Life adapted, as it always does, but now a new problem has emerged. Nobody knows exactly what it is, but they call it "The Contagion," and it is the scourge of all life. It has existed since before the oceans rose but has always been kept in check by "The Filterers," a unique coral that feeds on it. Now, the Filterers near the origin of the Contagion have stopped working for some reason, and it is spreading through the water. Small colonies of the Filterers found away from the Contagion warned of the threat by changing color, and those with the smarts to listen prepared. Luckily, you were near one of those smart creatures, Arasta the Diving Spider, who spun a great web that keeps the Contagion out of this small pocket of clean water. This safe haven is known as "The Bell." Many in The Bell are content to live happily and rebuild, but others, such as you, go out to find other survivors, investigate why the Filterers stopped keeping the Contagion in check, and sometimes look for Terran treasure to help better the lives of the creatures within the Bell. You do this by affixing small samples of the Filterer coral to the outside of your nose, mouth, and all other breathing apparatuses and orifices.
RULES:
1: You have to play as a living or once-living creature found on Earth. I will allow giant versions of creatures, however, as well as aquatic versions of air-breathing creatures as long as you can give an explanation on why they were able to adapt. For example: A frog or giant frog would be allowed because tadpoles have gills. This specific species of frog never lost those gills.
2: Censor your curse words, please. You get 1 warning before I report you.
4: No eating or hurting other creatures. We're all in this apocalypse together, and you wouldn't want to get kicked out of the Bell to deal with the Contagion on your own.
5: No exceptionally large creatures. The Bell is only a mile in diameter, so please keep your creature below 100 feet in any dimension.
6: No class levels or magic. This is basically a version of Earth, so there is no magic.
7: This thread could eventually reach an end if the Contagion is stopped.
8: Comment which number I skipped in your first post so I know you read the rules.
MODS:
I'll be the only mod on this thread. Ask me if you have any questions about anything.
ONE FINAL COMMENT:
Please have fun! This is my first time doing something like this, so let me know if there is anything I could improve.
Also this is the second time I've tried creating this because nobody joined the old one :(

[Might as well join again cos I joined the last attempt but got no response (you probably could have just Revivified the old thread with a few posts since it's been less than a week, but no matter). Also I read the rules for the first one but looks like three's missing this time. I'll adapt my original intro and see if anybody else responds]
Unseen by most of the inhabitants of the Bell, a little creature snuffles about on the sea floor. At first, you'd obviously suspect it's a sea urchin, but if you get closer, you can see that it's actually a strange aquatic hedgehog looking creature, a rodent that, through the process of convergent evolution, appears to look like a sea urchin to avoid predators that once hunted it on land. The seahog continues to wiggle its way through the coral and rocks, looking for any good sea grass to eat, before they finally find a good patch. They sit motionless on a rock, nibbling at some of it, and observe the other inhabitants of the Bell, keeping an eye out for any other aquatic mammals.

*I wasn't sure whether reviving the thread counted as a necro or whatever, never understood the forum rules :p. Even if I did revive it (or create this one), if nobody joined in the first few days it was up, nobody would join later on*
A small rock near the seagrass begins to tremble. A hermit crab crawls out of its hidey-hole and rebukes you. "Hey! My garden! Ok buddy we might have to square up because that grass was my landscaping, and I don't remember asking you to trim it!" The crab sounds quite elderly, and quite angry, too.

The seahog replies in a squeaky voice 'Oh I'm terribly sorry, grass this good is so hard to come by, I never realised it was yours! Please, is there anything I can do to repay you? I have a collection of shells in my warren that may interest you!'

The crab looks at the seahog. "Ok, don't tell ANYONE this, but I've always dreamed of being cool. I want to find a shell so awesome and shiny that everyone notices me and says, 'Wow! That crab is cool!' Do you have any shells like that?"

The seahog thinks for a second, scratching its spines against a rock to relieve an itch, and then says 'I might have something you'd like, come with me and take a look!' The little sea beast then goes back to inching towards the direction of his warren, hoping the crab will follow.
