Hi folks! This thread is set in the same universe as the now retired Are They Really Superpowers If Everyone Has Them?thread, a world where everyone is born with a unique superpower. You do not have to have been a part of or even heard of the previous thread in anyway at all to participate in this one; they simply take place in the same place and have no further connection. The only potential connection is that if you played a character in ATRSIEHT? and want to keep playing them, you are welcome to carry them over.
The difference between this thread and ATRSIEHT? is that whilst the previous thread was intended to be a chill, roleplay focussed thread with little to no story, similar to the tavern-style genre, this thread is story based, with lore and direction. It is set in the city of San Fuerza, a bustling metropolis where anyone with any power can live together, and the only one of its kind. However, there is a dark secret behind it, and you will work together to unravel this mystery and find out the truth.
Additional Lore (Optional)
In this universe, superpowers are the #1 cause for discrimination. In fact, homophobia, sexism, racism, ableism and all other forms of segregation are almost non-existent, though that's only because superpowers give everyone a common thing to divide them. No one is the same; everyone is unique. In the olden days, people would be used only for their ability and not their worth as a person, and people with potential invasive or dangerous abilities like mind reading or heaven's forbid, mind control, were either ostracised or flat out exiled.
However, about 50 years ago, in the 1970s, this changed. There were huge protests and movements to unite all superpowers, and this led to the development of San Fuerza, a city where anybody of any power could live in harmony. Nowadays, it's easily the biggest city in the world, with about the same amount of people as real life Tokyo, with the rest of the world being much more underpopulated and sparse (the population is around 2 billion). San Fuerza is incredibly technologically advanced as well; everyone carries a passport with them that is read by sensors that can take in data on a persons power to accommodate them and direct them to where they will be suited best. There are cafes, apartments, parks, shops and places of work for all different forms of power, all on the same street, whilst in years gone by they would have been in different villages or even countries. Even a group of people with entirely different powers can share a train, with each carriage being made to cater to a powerset. All this combined makes San Fuerza easily the most welcoming, accepting and accessible group in all the world (though that's not to say some prejudices don't still exist beneath the surface).
However, there are dark goings-on behind the scenes. Sometimes the people of the city can feel 'tuggings' at their soul, which is almost entirely unexplained, and it's always gone unquestioned how such a utopia can exist. Well, you are about to discover the truth, and work towards a world of true freedom!
The Rules
1. As normal with any thread, abide by all the forum rules, and please keep topics PG-13. 2. Roleplay and interact with others in a sociable way. 3. Name your favourite type of cake in your first post so I know you've read the rules 4. No God-Builds with superpowers, though the details are below 5. You are playing a regular, everyday person, but now with as superpower. Therefore, there are custom rules on how to build your character that adjust as we continue through the campaign.
Character Creation
1. Start with a base Commoner stat block. 2. Increase the hit dice by one so you now have 2d8 hit points. 3. Increase all the stats using the array of 13, 12, 12, 11, 10,10 to spread to whatever stats you choose, with any power-related changes applied. 4. Gain 1 Skill proficiency. The Proficiency Bonus is remains +2.
How To Create Your Superpower
1. It can be any ability you want, as long as it is not a totally destructive ability (such as resetting the universe or insta-kill), or one that cannot physically be done through forums (so pretty much any form of time travel etc) 2. Your superpower MUST have a weakness. It can be a flaw in the ability, or a separate drawback you have as a person. As a general rule of thumb, the stronger the power, the bigger the weakness. 3. As DM, I get full license to adjust your power as I see fit or veto any powers that I think break Step 1. This includes powers that I previously accepted, but are then used in an overpowered way (so no choosing water manipulation and then just vaporising people). I will try to keep this to an absolute minimum though; I trust that if I allow you to have a good power, you will not abuse it.
Alright, once we've got some players we can get started!
Yo I’m Himy (He/Him) (pronounced exactly as written for those who are wondering) I'm adhd and exhibit high antisocial tendencies, so bear with me if I seem apathetic. I like reading, watching anime, playing video games, and questioning my morality. I don't rp as much as I used to, but I'm almost aways on Onions or LCW. Always willing to chat. That’s all folks!

[Awesome, can't wait to see what you both come up with! I'll start when you guys are ready, Yondor is also gonna be playing, they've PMed me their character and will intro when free]

*Yeah, or you could make it where he has slight telepathic powers, allowing him to make people follow him. Or something.*
[I mean if it's just making it so anyone pursuing you experiences calamity/bad luck, that could work well though it's situational. The only thing I would say is that the character Yondor is going to play, Tod, has the power of incredibly bad luck, but then gets one burst of immense plot armour at some point, so the powers are fairly similar in the sense of luck manipulation and stuff]

*I want it to be something they don’t really have control over, just causing random strokes off horrible accidents and such, constantly happening around them. Wait, that actually has some really cool possibilities for a character!*

*thats actually quite similar to my original character’s power for the old thread, where she could give herself ungodly luck and then for a time afterwards everything related to her that could go wrong did go wrong. It’s an awesome power*
[Ooh that would be cool! In lore, people with dangerous powers, like that one, live in a special zone of San Fuerza called T-Block. You'd have to work something into your character that allows them to, y'know, actually go out and interact with people without being a threat, but sounds like a cool power once it gets a weakness!]

[Yeah it is, except his is kinda in reverse lol. The best way he described his is Murphy's Law lol. Maybe your characters could team up or combine powers to cancel each others bad luck out lol]
[Sure! T-Block is a district in San Fuerza that houses all the dangerous powers. It's loosely guarded on the outside, with just chainlink fences and rarely monitored CCTV cameras, and on the otherside of the fence it's fairly tranquil too. There are large housing blocks with assigned apartments for residents, and the streets are quiet, with tonnes of facilities like a gym, cinema, cafes, etc. The only reason it's all so calm is that the main warden of the block has the power to instil peace and calm in an area they assign, so all crime is wiped out within the otherwise dangerous area. All residents get a 2 hour day pass out into the rest of the city, with varying restrictions based on power.]
