"Hive mind isn't quite the word." Rattles the Pontiff. "We are a... body. A hive, yes, and with telepathy within ourselves, but we are individuals. We must accommodate for each other and our differences. Individuals can create, they can squabble, they can fall in love... we are a strange breed, but permutations lead to versatility, and versatility is necessary for survival, and survival for spreading peace."
They listen carefully, intrigued. “Individuality is important, especially in a community. I’m glad that you all have free will - it pains me to see creatures chained to others.”

“Yes, yes, a servant.” She chuckles. “Under Lord Gregory… there weren’t exactly many opportunities in Old Caterinna. You were born here, you lived here, and you were buried here. It was… rundown, to say the least, and we were tired of it. I had been serving Gregory for four years when we had the idea of overthrowing him, the only people who lived with any sort of luxury in Old Caterinna were in Lyrebird’s landing, so I had to take it. Under that tyrant of a lord, I had no other options, it was the highest position I would likely be able to achieve, heh-heh… but look at me now, our plans worked out flawlessly, and now I… I can use that command, as you mentioned. Command to give Old Caterinna and its people a chance. A chance to live happily and to do wonderful things.” As she recalls life under lord Gregory, she shivers. “In the last few months, Old Caterinna has been so full of art, we even have a theatre, producing a wonderful ballet.” She says cheerfully, then she frowns slightly. “Excuse me, I haven’t asked… do you want any food or drink?”
He listens carefully as she recounts the tale, his jewelry clinking as he sways a little, almost as if there is a slight breeze. “That sounds… awful. I’m glad you and your people were able to escape that sort of fate.” Khass says genuinely, frowning. “Many people are greedy and cruel. It is unfortunate, yet a fact that we must accept and live with. As for food and drink… yes, I would love that.”

"We are from the Southern Swamps, your grace. A very long way indeed, but it was worth it to meet you in person. Our teachings speak of preserving the beautiful, so others can experience it. The One Below All loves such things, and He won't be here for a long time, so such measures must be taken. If you are ever in need of anything, we will come to your aid, no questions asked."
“How curious. You seem to be very kind, and I do wish that we will be able to help each other prosper… out of curiosity, what do you consider beauty? Myself, I see beauty in many things. Life, love, art, performance…”
"Beauty is nebulous. It hides in everything, but oh how it hides in some things. The hallmark, for me as an individual, will always be the ability and will to create. A weapon can be beautiful. An engineered disease can be beautiful. But a horror only destroys. As long as you have the desire to improve, adapt, or even change for experimentation's sake, you are living. And life is the most beautiful thing, isn't it? Anything that creates or preserves it is a wonder. Thus, even with our power, we don't make weapons. We don't make plagues. We make cheese and wine and spiced sausages."
She grins, offering a gloved hand to shake. “I believe this could be the start of a very… well, beautiful friendship… care for some wine?”

*I really want people to expand and can't wait for peace time to be over to invade someone 😁*
*Orrr you could trade with mes to get cool ocean technology magic stuff to command the waves to crash your opponents to bits and I could get more peoples*
*Or with me to get fey magic*
*Or I could raid both of your settlements and take them over*
*Or I could just hide underwater?*
* Doesn't matter arch said there is no restrictions in terms of troops movement<3*
*... Uh-oh I'm scared. I thought being underwater would make me safe. But aparently vikings have submarines. I'm scared. HELP!!!*
*My undead mushroom theocracy could help. They believe in preserving what is beautiful, and life is one of those things.*

Deep within the cores of the Kanadonian mountains, the clang of pickaxe against stone echoes through the walls, the passive buzzing of a work song being sung proudly by no less than three hundred workers all digging out a large tunnel. For within these mountains, the people are not safe from the ever twisting landscapes that rid the valleys surrounding, the large caves that make up the town Vacqui are in a constant state of shift, forming a colossal labyrinth that few have ever chosen to explore, and fewer have survived.
Vacqui was formed hardly 40 years ago, relatively recently by comparison, and has very quickly grown to a respectable size. Their nature in being so isolated has allowed them to live in peace--to expand exponentially--in peace. Despite this, they are not known to be a friendly or peaceful group, all who reside within Vacqui make an oath to their almighty, the Gourd Lord, this oath, a vow of sorts, enables spiritual justification for Vacqui's main source of profit; war profiteering. Few to none of the reports from people who have spoken with, fought with, and even in some cases died to, have reported ever seeing any justification for the town's insistence on their lord's existence. No clerics of his name, no pacts that have been forged, the closest being the several Paladins of Conquest that take their oath in the Gourd Lord's honor.
The town itself is shrouded in mystery, though it is not impossible, or even frowned upon to visit. It's location in a cave within the Kanedonian region of all places makes it a precarious place to get to, but the economy for the people has been generally described as bustling, with friendly, generous people. A majority of the exports from it's stone walls usually comprise of artisanal goods, particularly, forged items (weapons, armor, etc.). They aren't known to carry many direct alliances, only the only documented one being a direct, firm allyship with Rhagoan, with unknown trading routes connecting the two settlements.
Vacqui is structured as a very utilitarian society, with every resource available being put to use with little time to spare for excess luxury. The temple within the core of the city makes up a predominant amount of the housing, with many choosing to live within its miles of interior space, though this isn't a requirement. Some choose to live outside of it sheerly just for their own comfort.
A few otherwise uncommon races choose to call Vacqui their home, namely an aquatic, amphibious race, and a ghostly, jackal-like race.
The landscape of the town is similar to that of Venice, with large amounts of water seeping through the walls of the cave to form a large river canal, making up the majority of the pathways within Vacqui. The aquatic race (known as kiplings) generally choose to swim through these, while bridges and pathways are built above to accommodate those who choose to walk on land instead.
*can and will expand more on vacqui lore in the future but this is already a lot for a forum post sorry*
