[Actually, I wouldn't mind that at all lol, especially if it brings more players over here! But it's up to Archfey if that's something they'd want to do lol]
She closes the book shut, but she can’t help but remain curious about the contents. She is probably still pretty terrified, however.
what does she do?
She tries to take deep breaths to stops her heart from racing, takes off her jacket, and wraps the book in it before stuffing it in her bag. Out of sight, out of mind. (But it isn’t out of her mind lol*
Alrighty! You can describe what she does until she finally decides to open up the book again.
She goes to what will be her home while they stay here. Cassandra’s already set up another looking glass near the middle of town, with some living space above it. When she gets there, she slips the door to her room closed and turns the lock. Slowly and carefully, she spreads the book open on the bed.
Same first ten pages as before, detailing 5 different specific fiends, two pages for each. Does she read on to further on in the book, or does she more closely examine one of the sections on the specific fiend?
(the five fiends, as previously stated, are a quasit, an Erinyes, two Vrocks, and a marilith. She probably doesn’t know what those are, but the book details them.’
She nooks closer at the erinyes. (Is there a character?)
*could you clarify what you mean?*
*will a demon pop out of th e book>
*nope! Not yet, at least :>*
the section details every aspect of a specific Erinyes, named Mulval. It mentions her true name (which is approximately eighty-two letters long) and includes lots of other information about her. For example, it mentions that she is a servant of the Archdevil Baalzebul and works as an enforcer for his wishes. There is a section detailing what powers she is capable of granting a mortal, including pyromancy, the ability to discern truth from lies, and improved physical capabilities. At the end of the section is a sigil drawn into the book, resembling an X with a spiral pattern winding around it, framed by a circle. It’s labeled simply as, ‘summoning circle,’ and gives no further information on it.
She brushes her hand over the circle curiously.

One of the men, who appears to be just an ordinary peasant aside from his clean white short-cut robe over his shoulders, laughs as he lunges forward with a feint punch, an orange crystal clutched in his palm as he does so. The other man, who is wearing a gravel grey cloak typical of a lowly fourth-class mage, and has charcoal black hair, jumps back, swishing his wand to try and send a stream of pebbles towards his attacker once more, but is suddenly struck with a punch from behind, in the small of his back. He wheels around to try and spot where it came from, but then hears the swish of the other mage's leg wheeling around to strike him. He looks over his shoulder, the split second reaction not enough to turn fully, but realises that attack was yet again a feint. By now he's got it; this mage seems to be able to reflect phantom attacks, since each time he's been bludgeoned the attacks seem to be out of nowhere without him spotting it, but at this point it's too late, and the translucent orange reflected kick hits him squarely in the turned neck. He splutters, falling down to grab his injured throat, and the other mage walks forward and laughs 'You really think your stupid rock magic could nab my crystal? I'm third class, you hear, and to get that, don't you think I'd have some wards to guard my spellcasting focus. Get a grip.' He continues to cackle as he walks away, victorious.

She turns to the page
At the top of that page it says, written in a red ink that might not be ink, ‘The Basics of Demon Summoning,’ with a picture of a pentagram. On that same page is a small paragraph introducing the subject.
any would be demonologist must first have at least a basic grasp in the following subjects: the anatomy of demons, the nature of the underworld, and possibly most important in order to advance yourself in the study: demon summoning. There are two widely used methods to summon a demon. Either, through the use of a summoning sigil in order to summon a particular demon, or through a hell gate. There are a dozen others ways, but these are the ones that will be reviewed in this chapter. First, summoning sigils.
next page.
a summoning sigil is a set of symbols linked to a specific demon and their essence. The innermost part of the circle, with their specific symbol, practically acts as a lure to draw the demon towards you. The circle surrounding the symbol focuses the energy you put into the spell and allows for the demon to be brought to you. The outer rim can be changed as you wish, to increase effectiveness, security, or other aspects of the spell via specific runes.
In the middle of that page is an example of a sigil, similar to the one connected to the Quasit at the beginning of the book, though a bit different. Around it is a complex circle of repeating runes that seem to be designed to keep the quasit from attacking after summoned. On the side, it gives a size conversion of the sigil, revealing it would be about 5 ft. Across in reality. On the other side, there is another annotation. ‘Drawn with blood,’

He recognizes the name Gateau. It belonged to a line that died out over a thousand years ago. Vampiric tyrants from long before this city was even founded.
The mage gives a strange, awkward smile and says 'Alrighty...so, I've been like, scouted?' He lets that hang for a moment as he processes things before waving his hand and saying 'You know what, sure, support is support, and if there's no strings attached, why not take it. 'Preciate it, Mr...Gateau, weren't it? Funny, I uhh, recognise that name. Guess it's common, right?'
Loschen leans forward, intrigued, as he takes in the death magic timeline. 'I see...I hadn't considered that that would be the typical process, but now that makes perfect sense. It is effectively an advanced form of transmutation, targeting the body and leaving the soul. But yes, you'd be correct; what I'm looking for would be a spell that uses the soul as fuel to annihilate the body; certainly a complex procedure, seeing as targeting a soul with a spell directly is a challenge in the first place, but nothing that can't be achieved. From there I would imagine the unravelling of the soul and its energy decay would take the body along with it into nothingness, provided that its kickstarted with some additional magical energy to fire those furnaces...'
She grins. “Well, soul magic is a sister school to the arcana of death… Perhaps-…” she holds out her hand, casting a simple illusion spell and summoning a mote of vibrating, shifting blue light. “While the structure of a soul is more complex than this in reality, this is simply for a demonstration-… as you said, the soul is effectively a specialized form of magical energy-… what if we were to… effectively destabilize the soul?” The light turns a sickly green and begins to vibrate more intensely. ”we turn the soul into metaphorical firewood, effectively making it temporarily more susceptible to the rest of the spell, which would use the volatile soul in order to create a burst of energy to rend the body to nothingness, taking the soul in the blast?” The mote of light pops.
”of course, we’d have to study the inner workings of the soul to most effectively convert it, and we would have to decide what spell composition would most effectively burn away a soul… what do you think?”
Loschen leans forward, intrigued, as he takes in the death magic timeline. 'I see...I hadn't considered that that would be the typical process, but now that makes perfect sense. "It's a pretty distinctive one, I think. Most people wouldn't use a cursed name like that unless they had the confidence that they could endure it. I've seen archmages shy away once they heard me speak it. My father was not a good man." His smile becomes warmer as he holds out his hand, a thread of gold coiling around it. "Neither am I. But I've decided that if I can't be good, at least I'll be successful, and try to help others become the same. So, do we have a deal?" His nails are short, unlike how most dhampirs style them. He's well-groomed, but is slightly overweight and maintains a light stubble. He's not a prototypical vampire for sure.

(For Shiver, in case you missed it :>)
[Thanks I missed that lol]
Loschen grins 'That's...an excellent theory.' He leans back and says 'To destabilise a soul, how about a specialised form of something like memory magic? That works by imbuing magical energy into a person's psyche to impose arcane blockades on certain triggers, or, more relevant in our case, cut sections of the mind loose altogether.' He then mimics a pair of scissors with his fingers, summoning his own ball of light in the other hand to demonstrate, 'If we instead targeted the soul, not the mind, we could effectively 'cut' away the outer layers that hold the soul together and then the magical energy within is released, to then be manipulated more easily so we can destroy the body. It's like a ball of yarn. Whilst it looks perfectly round, a few snips in the right places can destroy the whole structure. Then, with our magical energy source already implanted in the now-corpse, we can easily annihilate what is left. We'd of course have to roll those two arcane processes into one, but effectively what we need is a spell to convert the soul into free and easily manipulated, ordinary magical energy, and one that can then tear a body apart due to the presence of that magical energy in the first place. I think we're on to something.'
[Actually, I wouldn't mind that at all lol, especially if it brings more players over here! But it's up to Archfey if that's something they'd want to do lol]

A dhampir in a white suit stands on the sidewalk in the poor part of town, ledger in hand, watching two men fight. He's taking constant notes, smiling warmly, but he doesn't stop it or get involved. People are betting on the fight, and the dhampir has bet several gold on either side.
Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
May each word that I speak be backed by each of my teeth.

*so far, this has been really fun to roleplay on, its really cool to like, look at magic from a more scientific perspective, as if each major school was a different branch of science. It’s just real fun*

The man in the white suit follows the victor, letting the group squabble over the coins he left. He doesn't say anything, but he does nothing to hide himself. He wants to be known, but he doesn't want to be the one to start the conversation. His loaded coin purse jingles loudly as he walks. His smile is warm, as though he had a genuine affection for the third-class mage.

The third class mage notices him after a couple blocks of jingling. He turns around and says 'Want anything? I'm not teaching you that trick I used on the guy back there, if that's what you're after.' He cracks a smile as he says 'Unless you can pay?'

*indeedy! The Dark lady and Loschen are basically scheming to concoct a spell that could erase people from existence and it’s just really cool. This definitely won’t be used in any unethical ways, I’m sure of it.*

He smiles a bit wider. "I could, but I think ya should keep that trick for yerself. I'm not very good up close. My work is mostly in pacts, anyway. Sacrificial magic. But you... you've got a gift, and watching you makes me feel like a young'un on 'is birthday, y'hear? My name is Winston Gateau, and I'd like to know if we could... come to an arrangement. Just a little deal. At a point of your choosin', I can whisk you away from any sort of danger or evil yer facin'. Any time. After all, you're a combat mage, and to test your magic fights are a good option, right? No catches, no tricks, I do all the work, and I do it at your command." He slips a platinum piece out of his purse. "And of course, should you want to make a deal then, or alter this one, I'd be open to negotiation."
He recognizes the name Gateau. It belonged to a line that died out over a thousand years ago. Vampiric tyrants from long before this city was even founded.
