The tall boy glides over. "Howdy!" He's wearing thick makeup that makes him look desperately ill, with sunken eyes and grey skin. "How's it going?"
The kid tries incredibly hard not to stare at the makeup. "Could be better. Got work, and this place doesn't allow anything fun."
"There are some fun things." He seemingly conjures a deck of cards from nowhere. "I can do anything here." He shuffles the cards, then pulls a slice of cheese from the deck and hands it to them. "What would you like to see?"
He nods. "Some apple hand pies sound like a good option then. Something you can bring with you when you're busy." He flicks his wrist, revealing a little 4x6 notecard, painted on to make it look kind of like a business card. It has a phone number on it, but nothing else. "Call me if you need my help with anything. And I do mean anything."
"Small problem, bud. No phones allowed in school." She pushes the card back into his hand.
He looks at it. "Well, good thing I only made one then. Heh." He throws it away. "Well, just shout for me then."
"Can I ask you kind of a weird question?" She leans on a locker, crossing her arms

Penn and Teller made an entire show about that stuff, where they try and guess what master magicians did to pull off the trick, and sometimes even they're stumped. I'm not at that level yet, but I'm practicing."
