"We can probably find the mead in there." Wasting no time, Quixote walks into the tavern and looks around.
Perception: 14
Upon entering the tavern you are met with a pleasant warmth from the two hearths at either end of the room, one of which has a hog roasting on a spit. There is a large bar stretching the distance in front of you, there is a tall elf man cleaning a glass behind it. The room is otherwise empty, but seems well maintained, there is no dust or grime, the chairs and tables seem in good repair, and in general it looks just like a normal tavern. Despite the lack of people.
"Good companions, we may soon be engaged in another combat, though that bear-" Verdell gestures in the bear's direction "-seems to be ignorant of our presence, or at least unperturbed about it."
Verdell will wait outside the tavern, unwilling to leave his horse alone with a bear in sight.

Zuli sees that Verdell doesn't want to leave his horse out with the bear, "I wouldn't worry about it to much. Bears do not usually attack horses. Now if it were a cougar...different story. But, if you're still worried about it, I can take care of the bear for you."

"I appreciate it, but I think we would be best off if we left the bear alone. I do not doubt that you - or anyone here - could win against a bear in combat, but I see no reason to attack if it's indifferent. Besides, I feel that someone should be keeping watch, just in case. It's probably an overreaction, but it is a reaction to the most unfortunate of occurrences, of the kind which I could not bear to see repeated...."

Arthilas was about to ask if he should take care of the bear, he instead offers to keep watch while the others go into the tavern. "I am not much into drinking anyways - ale, wine, rum... they are not healthy for your body."
Darklis shrugs when the bear is mentioned, then enters the tavern with Agnomally. She approaches the elf who is polishing the glass, "Business seems rather slow, is it always this way?"

“Oh! Welcome, yes business is rather slow, the only people passing through are adventurers demanding mead. It’s rather strange.”
"Eh, I'll just take water to drink. I'm more interested in food right now. What's cooking?" Zuli asks, rubbing her hands together as she turns her nose to the kitchen. "I'll take anything so long as its meat."
Darklis glances down at the satyr before responding to the elf, "I'll take some food, and some ale if you have it. How often do these adventurers come through here? Do they ever say where they are going?"

“Water? Alright then” He sets down the glass he was cleaning and pours you a glass of water. “Oh the hog? Yes it’s not done yet unfortunately, it should only be a little longer”
Darklis glances down at the satyr before responding to the elf, "I'll take some food, and some ale if you have it. How often do these adventurers come through here? Do they ever say where they are going?"
”Ah, the only thing we have for food is some old bread , I haven’t been eating lavishly myself… But ale I can do!” They pour you an ale as requested alongside a slice of old bread. “The adventurers? Well time keeping is a little odd here in these woods… day and night aren’t really present… nor are seasons… so I can’t tell you. And for where they are going, if your visit so far is any indication, they don’t often tell me. The ones who do ramble about doors and escape, and endless rooms. It is quite odd”
Darklis takes the bread and ale. She does not complain about the bread, it's just as good if not better than what she's used to. She looks at the elf with a tired yet blank expression. After a few moments, she sighs and says, "Yes, quite odd indeed."
"I will have some wine. Thank you." Nodding his head, the satyr takes a seat at the bar. "Odd. You say they 'bramble'? That does not sound very good." He leans in, his face twisted oh-so-slightly into a frown. "What do you do, all this time, when you are alone? It sounds like a very lonely job."

“Did I say that? I ment ‘ramble’! Honest mistake on my part. Yes, the job does get pretty lonely, I just hang about and cook. Occasionally I’ll catch big things like that” they say gesturing to the hog “But usually I just sit about thinking…”
"Oh, you said ramble. I am sorry, my native language is not Common." He follows along with the pointing and gesturing, and when the elf trails off, he adds, "Thinking...? What?"

You spot a bear lumbering through the grass in the distance, it doesnt seem aware of you. Other than that you notice nothing dangerous or abnormal.

Zuli shrugs, “I’m pretty sure the bear can’t hurt me, but if you insist. I’ll leave it be.”

Quixote is at Darklis' side in a second, smiling. "That is very strange. Do you serve anything other than mead?"
