DM Training Ground—You Are In A Room (Reboot, Reboot)

Zuli laughs, "Great! One success!" She licks her lips, "Hmm, now I want sushi." 

She frowns as the elf presents them with the next riddle, scrunching her nose a little she says, "I'd guess...a road, a river, time, or...life itself." She chuckles for no apparent reason, then resumes eating. 

"I love giving riddles, but I am terrible at answering them. I think the closest would be time? Possibly? Or maybe space. I am not really sure."

 “A road is definitely close enough! You all took that much better than some other people do, I’ve been almost killed a couple times!”

Arthilas enters the tavern and joins the others.

"This place is truly riddled with riddles" he says as he takes a seat and starts thinking of a riddle he could give.

Darklis just looks tired at this point.

"Because they both have quills on them."

(I've never heard anyone answer that before. Cool!)

"That makes sense, Zuli. I'll give it to you. Does anyone else have any other riddles?"

(lol, I thought I'd heard it before, but I just now got the reference)

Zuli shrugs, "I don't even like riddles. How am I getting these right?" She grumbles for a moment before saying, "Well, I heard this one a loooong time ago. Some sandy lion lady asked a former comrade of mine this riddle. He must have gotten it wrong, because she ate him. Anyways, I think it was..."

"What has four legs in the morning, two legs in the evening, and three legs at night?" 

She pauses as if realizing she forgot something before saying, "And, yes. I do know the answer to it, otherwise she would have eaten me too."

"Riddles have never really been my strength" Arthilas says and sighs a bit. But I can try to give one too, if you want!"

He then looks at Zuli. "A sandy lion lady that ask riddles? Wow, that must have been a sphynx! I have never seen one so far..."

"I know this one! I used to be very good friends with her. The answer is a human, no?"

DM:

Darklis gowns, she had also heard this riddle before. "To be more specific, the answer is a man. Though i guess any type of person could be considered correct." She glances towards the satyr. "I'm surprised that the sphinx would have allowed you to give the more general answer."

Still looking tired, Darklis looks at the group. I guess i can tell one.

There is a black dog, laying on a black road. There are no lights on in the city. A man is driving (his carriage i guess) down the road without his headlights on (it's dnd, carriages can have headlights lol), rather than running over the dog, he goes around it. How did he see the dog?

“He was wearing goggles of darkvision!”

"Unfortunately , that is incorrect." Darklis says in a tired voice, "This is a simple person. It is unlikely he would have any magic items."

“Ooh, wait! Is it day?”

Zuli sighs, "Yes, its a human." She licks her plate clean, "I knew that one was to easy. ...you called her a sphinx...huh. Alright."

She rolls her eyes at Darkliss, "How long are we going to sit here riddling? I'm getting bored. Maybe I'll go kill that bear outside..."

She laughs, "Weren't we here to try and do something?" She turns to the elf, "Hey, do you know anyone who wants some goatskins?" She relays the message they found outside to the elf (I'm sorry I don't remember exactly what it was.).

 It’s fine, you were instructed to find three goat skins two decanters of mead and pristine fruit. “I’ve never heard of that… no. But I imagine I’ll have plenty to think about here, those are some good riddles!” He made sure not to listen whenever someone revealed an answer.

"You have not seen it? There is a stone in the middle of these woods with instructions on them. And we think it might be a way out of this endless woods." Quixote takes the final sip of his wine, setting down the glass with a degree of finality. "We could show you, if you would like, if we have finished paying with riddles. If not I am more than happy to share some more."

 “Yes please! I have been trapped in these blasted woods for the longest time. And… we can riddle on the way there!”
