"I might not be able to do so much on my own---some staffs are easier to replicate than others. So you may need to provide certain components on your end for that staff's full abilities to be replicated, or I can only do a fraction of what it can do per day."
(Just want you to know. This is your chance to create your own magic staff, with its own unique properties, if you want to do that! It doesn't have to imitate a preexisting staff unless you'd like it to.
And since it's really just you right now, the rest of the party isn't really doing anything, we can take this to a PM if you're okay with that. Just so I can keep going with the others!)

“Hey, mind telling us what it’s telling you? Is it malicious…? I don’t have much experience with telepathic weapons, if it even is telepathic! This is pretty cool, do you mind describing it to me?” Clementine says with large amounts of interest. She fumbles for a notebook wrapped up in the folds and sleeves of her coat.
“Oh sorry, yeah!” Agnomally blinks rapidly out of her daze and turns to face Clementine. “I’m not sure what it does yet. It says it can do what I want it to, but there’ll be a price associated with giving it the abilities, I think? It’s not making me crazy so far, which is good. At least, I don’t think so. I asked it what the price would be for the staff I would want it to be just now. We’ll see what it says! It’s really nice, but I feel a little sad for it, because it said no one else asked who it was. It also didn’t answer the question, so it might not really know who it is. I think people thought of it as a tool, not as a being, which is sad. If this works out, I think I want to make friends with it.”

“Well interesting… does it communicate with… words? How? I definitely see no reason not to befriend it, especially if it seems lonely. Just make sure it doesn’t back you into a deal of taking your first born child or anything.”

"If it does, the chances of its name being 'Rumpelstiltskin' are extremely low."
Definitely unrelated side question: Who else now feels like naming the staff Rumpelstiltskin?

I would name it Rumpelstilzchen - that is the fairy tale's original title and the titular figure's original name. And it is the name I know, with German being my native language :-D

Sweet, naming it Rumpelstiltskin would be funny. We should probably ask it if it has a name first though, but the way people were treating it like an object rather than a person makes it sound like it’d love a name.

Er, 9. :)
Only spilt the party if you see something shiny.
Ariendela Sneakerson, Half-elf Rogue (8); Harmony Wolfsbane, Tiefling Bard (10); Agnomally, Gnomish Sorcerer (3); Breeze, Tabaxi Monk (8); Grace, Dragonborn Barbarian (7); DM, Homebrew- The Sequestered Lands/Underwater Explorers; Candlekeep
Arthilas has a passive Perception of 15. He (and with hiim the entire group) also can't be surprised as his sword works as a weapon of warning.
Let’s see…just 10 for me
What level is the group right now?
MY INFO
Thanks, guys!
DrakenBrine, I believe we're at level 8 now!

Indeed, we are at level 8 now :-)
Passive perception is 17. (In case you wanted them, investigation is 11 and insight is 14.)
Paladin main who spends most of his D&D time worldbuilding or DMing, not Paladin-ing.
Thanks! And I'd like Insight and Investigation as well :)

Insight 9, investigation 12.
Can you give me an example of price? If, say, I wanted you to act like a staff of thunder and lightning, what would that cost?

Im just testing the dice roller right now
MY INFO
Are you guys fine with me having a ‘companion’
AKA a blue dragon wyrmling
MY INFO
I’m fine with the dragon, as long as it doesn’t turn into a adult one in like a couple of seconds. It should probably stay wyrmling.
investigation: 17
insight: 10

I'm also cool with it, and I agree with Plopped. Just as long as it doesn't become an adult dragon immediately it should be fine.
