(I try to design my rooms so there's little chance of derailing it (unless the players don't take it seriously), so you're all good! But obviously the actions you take determine the outcome; it's just that there isn't one set outcome I am looking for or one 'solution.' Unless it's a puzzle or riddle of sorts. If anything, I feel like my irregular absences are causing a lot of derailing in themselves. I'm just getting over a nasty, month-long case of the flu. Sorry abt that though!)
Anywho... You run past where the shadow used to be and into the next room. It's very dark, but that isn't a deterrent. But as you step a few feet into the room, the soft glow of the crystals lining the wall make for a welcome source of light. The room is generally empty, but there are carvings and Dwarven text on the walls, painted with all sorts of pigments and lined with thin strokes of gold.
As far as you two can tell, the carvings are meaningless, with exception to the text.
There is a trapdoor on the other side of the room.
For anyone that can read Dwarvish at the moment:
The text goes on about these two sisters that are never named. Once shelters others, bringing life and good by shrouding them in darkness. The other seeks to banish the darkness through harsh light, destroying and burning all that is in front of her. The last line is a pledge to protect everyone who comes to 'The Dark One:'
"Where there is shadow, there is safety. Where there is darkness, there is peace. Where there black, there is color and life. Remember this well, and The Dark One will provide."
If reading this out loud in the language it's written, you'll notice that 'The Dark One' is pronounced 'Koga.'

*Ea’s ancient mother taught her many of the base languages when she was young, so yeah, She understands Dwarvish*
Ea reads the text aloud.
“This entire cave system is a temple. To worship a good-aligned goddess of darkness named Koga. We just killed one of her servants. We need to leave. NOW!”
As soon as she finishes saying this, she starts running back to the others, with Bolt by her side. She doesn’t even wait for Arthilas.
"More complicated then Lycanthrope?" Zuli laughs. "What did you think I was?" She seems surprised by Clementine's offer, then waves a hand, "Oh...thanks, but...I'm sure that will be too small for me right now. I think I'm covered enough by what clothing I have left and my fur." She chuckles, "This is why I wear sleeveless shirts..." She rolls her shoulders, "I have a change of cloths for when I revert. But I think I'll stay with this for now. It's been a long time since I was able to use this form without worrying about someone attacking me."
She looks around, "Oh... and you asked me about my scar when we first met..." She touches the scar briefly as if remembering, but then laughs again, "Yeah, that's the most complicated part of this. A tiger tried to take my head off when I was six, and then my parents had the bright idea of trying to cauterize it in hopes of removing the curse...which clearly didn't work." Still chuckling she adds, "But that's alright. I rather enjoy my inability to get bruises. Just don't come after me with magic and silver and I'm good."
She flexes her claws, then realizes that the excitement is just about over. She scans the inscription, and frowns, "Huh, okay... I mean, I prefer the shadows myself but...well this seems a little strange." She looks over to where the shadow disappeared to, "Maybe I shouldn't have jumped on it...but...if it was friendly why did it try to run away?"
Darklis frowns at the carvings. "A good god of darkness eh? That sounds a bit off... Are you sure this text is telling the truth? I mean, I doubt anyone would blatantly call themself evil. But either way, if we did just kill her servant the yeah, we should move." She sighs, "Anyone see any promising doors around?"

But either way, if we did just kill her servant the yeah, we should move." She sighs, "Anyone see any promising doors around?"
(Darklis can't read dwarvish)
Ea and Bolt already ran off. She immediately ran as soon as she finished talking.

"Yes, there is a trapdoor in that room where I killed the shadow!" Arthilas looks after Ea and Bolt, not sure if he should follow. He tries to perceive any changes that might have started occurring since he has killed the shadow (rumbling, collapsing, gusts of winds, temperature drops...): 24 Perception.
He seems to feel a bit unsettled now. "First a magic sword someone was sealed into and now a temple of a good god of darkness? What is going on here? And where are the others?"
suddenly a giant fire flares and disappears with a teen wearing reddish robes walking out of it
he looks twords semako "where am I and why am I here"
“Perhaps you should answer some of our questions first, youth. Who are you, and what is the cause of your apparently extreme distrust and suspicion? We are not hostile to you unless you show yourself to be hostile or threatening to us. The only way we’ll be able to survive these places is if we work together.
“With that out of the way, we’re in what seems to be an endless stream of puzzle rooms and… interesting locales. Upon completion of one room, we are immediately thrust into yet another challenge.
“As for why you’re here… there’s very little information to base even speculation on. I personally was sent here to be tested, and to—” Verdell cuts off in the middle of his sentence and looks as if he can remember neither what that last sentence was nor why he is here.

“Hey welcome to purgatory, or something similar. I don’t know much about it, nor why either of us are here. My names Clementine!” Clementine says this towards you as you appear out of the flames. “Cool fire too.”
“So we are in a temple to a hood god of shadows are darkness and stuff? I guess I could get behind that, but the one shadow goddess I know of is anything but a good guy.”
“Should we be off to the trapdoor? We probably shouldn’t linger here any longer than we have too. What are we going to do about this shadow creature here? Also… Arthilas, did that shadow you killed leave anything behind? Something I could preserve?”
if you’d like a physical description of Clementine I can copy paste one for you Roboduck!
There is nothing. No ceilings collapsing on you, no rumbling noises, no nothing. It didn't really seem like killing it did anything.
And just to clarify because there seems to be some confusion as to where everyone is at the moment:
Clementine, Verdell, Agnomally, and Zuli are all with the shadow-light being in the room where Arthilas found the secret hallway. This shadow has not been killed. And since Verdell is talking with the newcomer, we'll put them there too.
Arthilas and Darklis are in the floor below, in the room where Arthilas and Ea killed the first shadow being, the one with the text.
I believe Ea and Bolt have run away to where Clementine, Zuli, Agnomally, and Verdell are standing with the humanoid.
But in the time that this has all transpired, Agnomally, Verdell, Clementine, Zuli, Ea & Bolt, and new guy, you all notice the shadow-light being starts making its way down the ladder towards where Arthilas and Darklis now are. If you choose to follow, then you're now all in the same group.
It's a lot of movement so if anyone's confused let me know, but hopefully this clears things up. You are all together again if you decide to follow the strange humanoid.

She rubs the scar on her face a bit, ears twitching. Her long striped tail waves back and forth...then she shrugs, "Sure, join us. Everyone else does, so why not! It'll be nice not being the only feline anymore." She laughs, then looks around, "Oh, right...there was a shadow thingy... What are we doing again?" She looks around, then begins following whomever she sees first. After a moment she shouts over her shoulder to Joe, "Welcome to the afterlife! I think? Yeah..."

I'd say that Arthilas' Comprehend Languages is no longer active, by the way.

I’ll follow the shadow.
”Hi! I am Agnomally!!!! Who are you?” Agnomally is a excitable gnome wearing a yellow dress and holding a mysterious staff.
Only spilt the party if you see something shiny.
Ariendela Sneakerson, Half-elf Rogue (8); Harmony Wolfsbane, Tiefling Bard (10); Agnomally, Gnomish Sorcerer (3); Breeze, Tabaxi Monk (8); Grace, Dragonborn Barbarian (7); DM, Homebrew- The Sequestered Lands/Underwater Explorers; Candlekeep
Ea looks a bit annoyed.
“Yes. Follow the literal shadow being that may be a goddess of darkness. That seems like a good idea. You guys coming?”
With that, she and Bolt jump down to try and catch up with Agnomally.
