Famed spelunker and scientist Giorgio Marconatti explores a never before seen cave, and in it he finds hives of crawlers. The realization hits him. These aren't aliens. They are coming from beneath our own feet. An underground civilisation, hibernating in the ground for billions of years, though it's still uncertain what awoke them.
Giorgio rushes to the camp that houses the whole-world army, demanding to see the general. He speaks with him, and is commended on his bravery. The general then asks Giorgio to head the science department dedicated to studying the crawlers. He accepts.
With this newfound information the general finds it hard to sleep as he stews over what this means for the war and the future of mankind...

The British have been rapidly sending out calls for aid in this battle, but so far, they are not getting much response. The battle's continue, the United Kingdom holding tight on its island in the sea, but they won't be able to keep it crawler free forever.

The RAF are able to take down many Gliders, but once some of them latch on to the aircraft, they seem to be able to tear them apart quickly, even eating some of the metal.
