Story:
See, this town had a history of entertainment, specifically, using the soon-to-be-dead aka death row inmates. They played a game similar to musical chairs in the past, although instead of the normal chairs is was nooses and a random one was rigged to drop a trapdoor and kill them...so more like a random game and less like musical chairs. Whoever survives gets to live for another day, until the next game comes up.
This year, the local government changed it up. They renamed the game to Penance, and now there are the killers, who try to hide and survive, and the police who kill the killers. Quite a reversal of roles...well, except for the police killing part, that's just normal.
They used the old prison to facilitate this game, and are broadcasting the game on the outside, as well as a tv they specifically implemented just for this game. However, the populace and the news don't know any of the information that isn't given to them.
You sit inside your cell, and the TV inside of it plays:
"This year, people are gathering up for this year's annual game! If you don't already know, Contrition is a unique city that uses the people on death row for its classic entertainment. People bet on inmates as if this were just a sport, like the Olympics. They changed up the game this year to a killing game, similar to mafia, and the game starts tomorrow! This will be an interesting game, won't it? Next up, the political climate of Contrition."
The news starts transitioning into ads and sponsorships, and you try your best to ignore it. Do you regret your actions? You'll find out soon.
Rules:
Days last 48 hours, nights last 24 hours. They will both start and end, unless otherwise extended or shortened, at [9 am CST] [10 am EST] [3 pm UTC]
Dead people know the roles of everyone (including the Victim)
You will know when somebody uses an ability on you around 12 hours before the end of the night. (ex. Roleblocking, blocked by War medic)
There will be three mafia members by default. Depending on how many people join, I will add more possible mafia roles, add a [1]mafia helper, andremove the basic mafia goon equivalent (Policeman)
Some roles have been replaced by modifiers; for example, there are no longer Lovers in the game, as they are replaced by a modifier that does a similar thing.
For citizens, there will be two confirmed roles that will for sure be in the game, which are Jailer (Kidnapper) and Doctor (Organ harvester). Other citizen roles are not guaranteed
For cultist roles, if there is a cult leader, there must be 2 other cultist roles in the game. (So if there is even one cultist, there must be a cult leader and 2 other cultist roles. No more, no less.)
Modifier: Modifiers are things adding on top of the normal ability of a role. (Example: The lover equivalent (Accomplices) can be any 2 roles, because it's not a role, it's a modifier.)
Defining the roles/abilities of roles:
Mafia helpers cannot kill; they are also not in direct contact with the mafia team (unless directly stated in the role).

Plain: No modifier
Accomplices: [Two players are connected similar to lovers, as well as have a group pm/dm together, the other effects are stated here: For Investigation, it randomly chooses between the roles of the two different accomplices; For protection, protects both people, but they can no longer protect the other accomplice on the next time the role can protect; For getting attacked, it would kill both people unless they are protected.] Two people are connected and they have a group pm with each other, but they do not know each others roles, and ANYTHING that happens to one of them happens to the other.
Lost: [Turns the person into neutral, overhauls the win condition, sometimes changes role abilities. SOME ROLES CONVERGE INTO THE SAME LOST ROLE [Posted in doc, and next spoiler] This causes the person with this modifier to become the neutral team, no matter what, forcing them to use their own special win condition and change in the role itself.
Broken: [You can only do actions on odd days/nights] (The math: when day % 2 = 1) This causes the abilities of the role to be stifled. They can only do the actions half of the time that they could normally do them. This role cannot apply to roles that already have a limited ability, like visionary.
Sponsored: Some rich person bet on you, and due to this; Whenever you die, it’s explained in the news what the role is of the person who killed you. [When you die, the role of whoever killed you is announced in the daily news message]
Mafia modifiers:
Forgotten: [This role allows the mafia to lose their role for one chosen night; doing this prevents all actions that would normally happen with the role. This will make you appear as if you are townie to any investigator including Visionary)]
Intimidating: [Intimidation (2 times max): During the day, you can intimidate one person; they cannot speak for this day/night cycle and cannot take any targeted actions against you, including voting. However, they are told that you are mafia, and what role you are.] This role allows you to intimidate somebody because you’re scary. :O
